CURTAIN-RING.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Iletters Patent No. 613,543, dated November 1, 1898 Application filed April 15, 1898.

To alt whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JAMES M. WILLBUR, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ourtain-Rods, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to the attachments which slide within the hollow slotted rod and connect to it the curtain or drapery.

The particular features of construction are illustrated in the accompanying drawings and are described in the following specification, referring to said drawings.

In the drawings, Figure l is a cross-section of the slotted tube and supporting-bracket, showing the attachment in place. Fig. 2 shows in perspective one form of the connecting device. Fig. 3 is a front view of the same. Fig. l represents a modification of the connecting device.

The attaching devices are illustrated in the drawings. These are made, preferably, of elastic brass wire bentto form a loop 9 at the upper end, the ends of the loop extending downwardly to form shanks, which diverge and are turned into small coils 10 at a suitable distance below the loop. The wire coils may be extended to form hooks 11, or the wire may terminate with the coils and the coils be used as loops to receive hooks which are connected with the upper edge of the curtain. The coils also serve to limit the upward movement of the attachment when the loop or ring is thrust through the slot into the interior of the tube. In order to insert these attachments, the shanks are pressed close together, and the attachment being held with Serial No. 677,709- (No model.)

the loop in the same plane with the slot the looped end is thrust therein, and the two legs of the shank, being held closely together, pass into the slot. The attachment is then turned one quarter and the legs of the shank are allowed to spread. When so spread, by the elasticity of the wire they hold the loop in a plane transverse to the axis of the rod and across the slot, in which position it may slide freely back and forth with the move ments of the curtain. The loop of the attach ment may be made round or flattened on top. It does not matter which form be used when the attachment is applied to the hollow slot ted rod. If the loop is made round, it may be as well applied to the outside of a solid rod.

1 claim as my invention- 1. The curtain attachment fitted to a hollow slotted rod, the same comprising a loop or ring, a two-part spring-shank extending downwardly from the loop and spreading in a plane transverse to the plane of the loop, and means connected therewith for attaching to the curtain, substantially as described.

2. The curtain attachment fitted to a hollow slotted rod, the same comprising a loop, a spreading spring-shank extending downwardlyfrom the loop and spreading in a plane at right angles to the plane of the loop, and coils on the ends of the legs of the shank, substantially as described.
