Be it known that l, M. C. LEONARD, of the city and countyo' W'nshington, in the vDistric have invented a new and improved Cartridge Box; und I 'do hereby decla-re that the following is n. full and excct'description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification, and in which like parts are represented by like. letters in the several iigures.

The nature of my invention consists in adapting the ordinary cartridge box to the use of metallic fulminete cartridges, or making new ones in like manner, by simply lining the principal pocket (usually 'containing tin frames) with sheep skin, having the wool on it, or equivalent elastic cushioned materiel, which will avoid any explosion of scid cartridges'by the ordinary carriage.

After well-tested experiments, mode at the Wish of the United States Ordnance department, I found nothing would prevent an accidentel explosion of the fulminute cartridge but lining the pocket of the box, as shown and described.
