To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JANE E. WAITE SMITH, of Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sleeve-Forms and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention contemplates certain new and useful improvements in garment-forms, and has reference particularly to those employed in forming dress-sleeves.

The object of the invention is to provide a dress-sleeve form which shall be simple in construction and capable of adjustment throughout its entire length, whereby the same may be made to represent the contour or outline of an arm obtained by measurements for use in fitting a sleeve thereon.

The invention will be hereinafter fully set forth, and particularly pointed out in the claims.

Referring to the drawings, A designates the body of the form, which in general outline represents the shape of a human arm. This body is composed of any suitable material. It is open at its ends and is formed into two sides a a, with an intervening longitudinal opening a (See Fig. 2.)

At about the center of and adjacent to each end I provide a holder 0, which serves to hold the body in whatever position it may be made to assume by the series of adjusters B. Each of these holders consists of a strip d of thin metal, held at one end in one of the pockets and provided at its outer end with a hook d, which is designed to engage with any one of a series of holes or eyelets 0? in the other side of the body. By means of these holders the body A can be held in any position it may be made to assume by the adjustment of the series of telescopic strips.

In practice the arm to be fitted is measured first at one point and then another, and the body A is correspondingly adjusted to make its exterior contour conform to each of these measurements. This is accomplished by releasing one or more or all of the holders and then regulating the proper adjusters to make the outer contour of the form-body of the same measurements as the arm at corresponding points along the length of the latter. As this measurement proceeds the position which the body has been made to assume is sus tained by the holders 0, the hooked ends of the latter being placed in engagement with the proper holes or eyes of the several series When the measurement is completed, the exterior contour of the body-form will be the guide for, fitting a dress-sleeve thereon.

The advantages of my invention are apparent. It will be noticed that a sleeve-form constructed as described is simple and inexpensive and is capable of easy adjustment and the parts are not liable to readily get out of order or in any way injure cloth or other material shaped thereon.

I claim as my invention--- 1. A sleeve-form consisting of a body having spaced-apart sides, a series of adjusters consisting each of two metallic strips adjustably connected together, and pockets in said sides accommodating said strips, substantially as set forth.

2. A sleeve-form consisting of a body having spaced-apart sides, a series of adjusters consisting each of two metallic strips adjustably connected together, pockets in said sides accommodating said strips, and a series of holders secured to one of said sides and detachably connected to the other side, substantially as set forth.

3. A sleeve-form consisting of a body hav-' ing spaced-apart sides, a series of adjusters consisting of metallic strips having longitudinal slots therein, and rivets projected through the slots of the opposite strips, and a series of holders secured to one of said sides and detachably connectedto the other side, substantially as set forth.

4. A sleeve-form consisting of a body having spaced-apart sides, one of which is formed with separate series of holes or eyelets, pockets in said sides, adjustable metallic strips fitted in opposite pockets of said sides, and a series of holders secured to one of said sides and having hooked ends designed to cooperate with said series of holes or eyelets, substantially as set forth.

5. A sleeve-form consisting of a body having spaced-apart sides, one of which is formed with separate series of holes or eyelets, pockets in said sides, adjusters connecting said sides consisting of metallic strips, each of which has a longitudinal slot and a rivet, or the like, such rivet of one strip projecting through the slot of the other strip, and a series of holders secured to one of said sides and having hooked ends designed to cooperate with said series of holes or eyelets, substantially as set forth.
