TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, JOHN HOLMES, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a non" and improved Smoking Stand; and I do hereby declare -that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the 'art to make and use the same, reference boina' had to the :recoinpanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which I Figure 1 represents a sectional front view of this invention.

This invention consists in a smoking stand, which is provided with a reservoir for smoking tobacco, for cigars, for snuit, for chewing tobacco, for matches, and for pipe-lighters, and also with a suitablebraclrct to support a pipe in such a manner that-all the utensils required by smokers, or by persons using tobacco, are contained in a narrow space, and persons'in` quest of one of the above-named articles can easily nd' them; and furthermore, a stand is obtained, which can be manufactured at a reasonable cost, and which forms an ornament for a counter'in a public house or for the mantel-piece in private or dwellinghouses.

On the top of the wallF is a' trough, H, intended to receive and hold pipe-lighters, and this trough is sur-mounted by an urn, I, which may be used simply as an ornament, or which may serve to receive the ashes from pipes and cigars. On the side of the wall F is a bracket, J, and a sliding-catch, K, intended to hold and support the bowl and stem of a smoking pipe; If desired, eachrside of the wall may be provided with one or more such brackets and catches, so that room is obtained for several pipes. The catch K is adjustable on a slide, so that it can be set to correspond to the length of the stem of the pipe.
My stand is very convenient; it can be made cheap or rich, as may be desired, and it forms an ornament Wherever it may be used.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A smoking stand, constructed as herein shown and described..`
