TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, ALICE A. CONDIT, of -Muncie, in the county of Delaware, and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Fabric of Wearing Apparel; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in sewing the feathers of geese, and other fowls and birds, to muslin, silk, linen, woollen, orl any other textile fabric, or leather or skin, in such a manner as to form an even, soft, downy outside surface, resemblingswans down or furs.
'I'o enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and utility.
I construct my fabric of feather-work by sewingvon muslin or other fabric the stem of the feather, folding back the downor feather edges, and sewing the stems from the large end continuously side by side, as shown by the accompanying drawings.
A, in the drawings, shows the feather in a natural state before prepared for use. B shows the feather prepared foi` use by having both ends clipped. C shows the feather with down or edges folded back from the stem preparatory to being sewed on the muslin or other material. D shows one feather sewed onvmuslin or other material. E shows four (4) feathers sewed on the muslin or other material.
An article of manufacture formed by trimming", folding back, and sewing upon cloth or lother material, the feathers of geese, birds, or fowls, as herein shown and described.
