SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 608,202, dated August 2, 1898. Application filed september 30, 1896. Qerial No. 607,384. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ASAPH M. KLECKNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Findlay, in the county of Hancock and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pipe-WVrenches; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and

exact description of the invention, such as will Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective;

View; Fig. 2, a detail View to show the wrench open, and Fig. 3 a similar View showing the wrench closed.

In the drawings, A represents a wrench formed of four pivoted links CD E F and a lever B,'having the end cam 12. p The outer link F has a cavity on the back of its free end, in

l which works the cam 12, while the lever B is so fulcrurned near the outer end of link 0 that it may be turned slightly beyond a right man to another without losing its grip upon the pipe. The link 0 has a cavity 0 to receive the head of the other terminal link F, as shown in the drawings.

I am aware that United States Patent No. 547,653, granted to Wiegand and Burr October S, 1895, shows and describes alink wrench which pulls upon the hook end by the end of the handle as it slides about its fulcrum in a tangential direction on the links; but mine has not only this action, but an additional positive, radial, and clamping action due to the cain-shapedend of the lever, the cam-surface being so arranged as to permit the leverhandle to be turned beyond a right angle to the'pipe, thus making a lock which enables it to be transferred from one Workman to another without loosening the grip upon the pipe.
