Description

UNTTED STATES PATENT EErcE.
THOMAS II. EULASS, OF'MASON CITY, ILLINOIS.
ADJUSTABLE CURTAIN-BRACKET.
SPECIFIGATION forming' part of Letters Patent No. 606,962, dated July 5, 1898. Application filed August 20, 1897. Serial No. 648,942. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS H. EULAss, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mason City, in the county of Mason and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Curtain-Brackets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention has reference to improvements in shade-roller brackets, the object bein gto provide an adjustable support for shaderollers that vary in length, as well as to provide a support for a shade-roller by means of which the latter can be raised or lowered to provide ventilation at the top of the window.
The invention consists in the features of construction hereinafter described and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a window-frame constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
Referring now to said drawings, 1 indicates the window frame, and 2 the shade-roller,said parts being of ordinary construction. The shade-roller is supported upon the upright guide-rods 3, that pass through the guides 42, fastened to the window-frame, said guiderods being provided with loops 5 to receive the pivots of the shade-roller. The upper ends of the guide-rod are provided with inwardly-extending arms 6, that pass through a clamping-sleeve 7. The clamping-plate 8 of this sleeve is preferably corrugated, while the sleeve is also provided with an opening 9 at its upper side to receive the depending end 10 of the overhanging arm 11 of the op crating-rod 12, the said end portions of the arms 6 and the depending end 10 being secured within the clamping-sleeve by a setscrew 13. The rear side of the depending end 10 is grooved to receive the ends of the arms 6, so that said parts are firmly secured together. The operating-rod 12 passes through guides lei upon the window-frame, and the lower guide has an extended portion provided with a set-screw 15 and two legs, through which the operating-rod passes, so that said set-screw can bear against the operating-rod to hold it rigidly in position.
It will be seen from the foregoing description that the guides 4 and the guide-rods 3 can be moved toward or away from each other, while the arms 6 of said guide-rods can be adjusted within the clamp for the purpose of bringing the guide-rods in position to accommodate the shade-roller. Furthermore, by means of the operating-rod and the set-screw 15 the shade-roller can be raised or lowered bodily to permit ventilation at the upper end of the window-frame. 1
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. Ashade-roller support involving the combination of a pair of vertically-adjustable guide-rods adapted to reciprocate in suitable guides having loops for supporting the shaderoller, and a separate, vertically-reciprocating, operating-rod adapted to reciprocate in proper guides on the window-frame, said rod having an overhanging arm operatively connected with the upper ends of the pair of adjustable guide-rods, substantially as described.
2. A shade-roller support comprising guides to be attached to the window-frame, upright guide-rods movable therein and provided with loops for supporting a shade-roller, the upper ends of said guide-rods being provided with inwardly-extending arms, a clampingsleeve to receive the ends of said arms, an operating-rod movable in guides upon said window-frame and provided with an overhanging arm having a depending end portion that enters said clamping-sleeve, and a setscrew for holding said depending end portion and the arms of the guide-rods Within said clamping-sleeve.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribin g 'witn esses.
THOMAS II. EULASS.
