MOP-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 604,107, dated May 17, 1898. Application filed November 30, 1897. serial No. 660,293. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HEINRICH AUGUST LEO- POLD BADE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clyde, in the county of Sandusky and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Mop-Holder, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in mop-holders.
The object of the present invention is to improve the construction of mop-holders and to provide a simple, strong, and durable device adapted to receive an ordinary mop-cloth and capable of holding a brush so that it may be employed in painting roofs and the like, where it is subjected to hard usage.
The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereto appended.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a mop-holder constructed in accord ance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation, partly in section.
Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in both figures of the drawings.
1 designates a handle to which is affixed an ad justing-screw 2, passing through a threaded perforation 3 of a transverse bar 4 of an oblong frame and having its outer end swiveled to a movable clamping-bar 5, which is guided on the ends of the oblong frame and adapted to cooperate with the outer side thereof in holding a mop-cloth, paint-brush, or the like. The oblong frame comprises the transverse bar 4 and the steel rod 6, which has its end portions bent at right angles and threaded at 7 to receive nuts 8 and 9, arranged in pairs and engaging the opposite faces of the ends of the transverse bar 4, which is provided with perforations for the reception of the ends of the frame. By this construction the transverse bar 4 is adj ustably and detachably secured to the ends of the oblong frame. The
movable bar 5 is provided at its ends with perforations 10 to receive the ends of the frame, and it has a central perforation 11 for the reception of the outer end 12 of the screw,
and the said outer end 12 is smooth and swiveled to the movable bar 5.
The outer side and ends of the oblong frame are constructed of steel, and the two transverse bars 4 and 5 are preferably constructed of malleable iron and slightly enlarged at the perforations.
The handle of the mop is adapted to be rotated to move the clamping-bar inward and outward to engage and release a mop-cloth, brush, or the like, and it efiects a rapid adjustment of the parts.
The invention has the following advantages: The mop-holder is simpleand comparatively inexpensive in construction and possesses great strength and durability, so that it cannot become bent or twisted during use and is not liable to be broken. The inner side 4 of the rectangular frame is detachably secured to the ends by means of nuts arranged in pairs, and it may be readily disconnected when desired.
What I claim is- A mop-holder comprising an oblong frame consisting of the outer side and ends constructed of a single piece of rod metal threaded at its terminals, and'theadjustable transverse bar 4, having a central threaded perforation and provided at its terminals with perforations receiving the ends of the frame, nuts arranged on the threaded portions of the ends of the frame and engaging the inner and outer faces of the bar 4 and detachably and adj ustably securing the latter to the ends of the oblong frame, the movable bar provided at its ends with perforations receiving the ends of the frame, whereby the bar is guided on the latter, and a screw designed to be secured to the mop-handle, engaging the threaded perforation of the bar 5 and having its outer end swiveled to the movable bar,
