Be it known that we, R. S.-TAY, of Medford, and Ti.. FRACKER, of` Cambridge, all of Middleseiz county, State of Massachusetts, have invented au improved Side Light; and we do hereby declare that the following,

taken in connection with the drawings which accompany and form part of this specification, is a'description off our invention sullcient to enable those skilled in the art to practise it.

The invention relates to lthe construction of` that class of metallic lainp supports or fixtures known to the .i trade as side lights, and has' particular reference to such arrangement of the parts as shall facilitate the packing The invention consists in so hinging the ring which supports the lamp to the-wall plate or hanger, that the ring can he brought up to and laid parallel against the hanger or plate, and so as to dropdown in positionwith respect thereto, for receivng'the lamp without any adjustment 'or connection of'p'arts'.

The drawings represent a lamp fixture or side light embodying the invention, A, showing a front View, and 4 B, a side elevation of the same. @denotes the hanger-plate, having a provision for suspending it against a Wall.`

It will be obvious that b'y swinging `the ring up against the plate,vthese Hxtures majY be very compaotly-A disposed in boxing them for transportation, While the hinged construction does not impair the value ,of the fixture, as the ring needs no ingenuity or skill in bringing it into position, but is selidisposing Whenever the v plate is unpacked or hung up, 1 h

It will also 10e obvious that there is far less danger of breakage, where the fixtures Canile compactly disposed of, than ivith the construction in which the ring is fastened yor scoured, directly to and` at right angles with the plate.

We claim a side light in which the lamp-ring orV support is hinged to and so as to swing up against the" han ger plate, substantially as set forth.
