SUPPORT AND COMPRESSOR FOR JELLY-BAGS, &0.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 600,203, dated March 8, 1898.

To all whom, it may concew:

Be it known that I, LUCY MORSE KELLOGG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Port J ervis, in the county of Orange and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supports and Compressors for J elly-Bags and Similar Articles, of which the following is a full and complete specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to supports and compressors for jelly-bags and similar articles; and the object thereof-is to provide an improved device of this class which is adapted to support a jelly-bag andat the same time to compress the same, so as to force the juice therethrough, while leaving the seeds and skins of the fruit in the bag.

The invention is fully disclosed in the followin g specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which Figure 1 is 'a front View of my improved jelly-bag support and compressor, and Fig. 2

a sectional side view thereof.

In the drawings forming part of this specification the separate parts of my improvement are designated by the same numerals of reference in each of the Views, and in the practice of my invention I provide an oblong baseplate 5, which is adapted to be Secured to a wall or other support or which may be suspended in any desired manner, and in the central front portion of which is formed a longitudinal groove 6, in which is mounted a rod 7, which is held in place by cross-plates 8, secured to the base-plate or support 5, and the upper cross-plate 8 is provided with a setscrew 9, by which the position of the rod 7 may be adjusted.

The upper end of the rod 7 is provided with an outwardly-directed arm 10, on the end 7 of which is formed a hook 11, and forrned in the lower portion of the base-plate or support 5, directly above the lower cross-plate 8, is a transverse groove 12, through which passes a circular spring-clamp 13, which may be secu'red in said groove 12 or may be loosely held therein by the rod 7, and the free ends of the circular spring-clamp 13 are provided with Serial No. 642,&07. outwardly-directed extensions 14, to which are Secured disks or plates 15, which are preferably circular in form.

In practice the jelly-bag or other article to be compressed is Suspended from the hook 11, and the disks or plates 15 are separated and caused to clamp the sides thereof, so as to compress said bag, and the pressure of the circular spring-clamp 13 is such as to cause the disks or plates 15 to compress the bag, so as to force the juice therethrough, and said juice will fali into a suitable receptacle prepared therefor, but which is not shown.

The clamp 13 may be of any desired form' or Construction, as may also the disks or plates 15, and said disks or plates 15 constitute jaws by which the bag is compressed, and said jaws may be of any desired shape.

By making the rod 7 vertically adj ustable I accommodate the device to bags of different lengths, and it will thus be seen that I accomplish the object of my invention by means of a device which is simple in Construction and operation and perfectlyadapted to accomplish the result for which it is intended.

Having fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A device of the character herein specified, comprising a plate or support, a vertically-adjustable rod connected therewith, and provided at its upper end With an outwardlydirected arm, said plate or support being provided at or near its lower end with a springoperated compressin g device, substantially as shown and described.

2. A device of the character herein specified, consisting of a plate or support provided centrally with a longitudinal grooVe, a vertically-adjustable rod mounted in said groove, and provided in its upper end with an outwardly-directed arm, said plate or support being provided at or near its lower end with an outwardly-directed spring-operated compressing device, substantially as shown and described. p

A device of the character herein specified, consisting of a plate or support, a vertically-adjustable rod mounted thereon, and V provided at its upper end with an outwardly- Ioo directed arm, said plate 01- support being provided at 01' near its lower end With'a ereular spring-operated eomp-essing deviee, which is dreeted outwardly and provided with disks or plates, substantiaily as shown and described.
