Description

L. R. COMSTOCK. Revolving Stove Pipe Drum.
'PatentedH Nev." 6, 1866.
UNITED STATES e.'ri1Inti: OFFICE. n
LEVI R. OOMSTOOK, OF MACON, MISSOURI.
S'TOVE-PIPE DRUM.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 59,363, dated November 6, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, -LEVI R. OOMS'IOCK, of Macon city, county of Macon, and State of Missouri, have invented an Improved Revolving Flan ged Spiral Radiator; and I do hereby declare the following to be an exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l represents a longitudinal section, and Fig. 2 a cross-section.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction of the spiral radiator having Sernicircular flanges on the inside of the cylinder, made of cast-iron or sheet-iron, and a center shaft, with iianges in sections set spirally on the shaft, with collars on the shaft, between which the ends of the cylinder are fitted and braced; also, pipes for receiving and discharging the heat, arranged and combined as hereinafter' described, for the purpose of regulating the heat and saving the fuel.
A represents the cylinder, with its receivingpipe B and discharge-pipe C, through which the heat passes, as indicated by the arrows. D is the shaft, upon which the flanged plates E are set spirally, or-plates in sections, one
section above another section, which give a bustion can be made circuitous around and` between the partitions E C 5 or, by turning the lever so as to bring those partitions on same side and parallel, a free passage for the smoke, Ste., will be afforded on the other side. The lever H being permanently fastened to the shaft D,the' collars J secure and brace the ends of the cylinder.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is y The spiral radiator having flanges Gon the inside of the cylinder A, and a center shaft, D, with flanges E set spirally on the shaft, with collars J at the end of the cylinder, and pipes B and O, for receiving and discharging the heat, arranged, regulated, combined, and
operated as herein described, and for the purposes set forth.
