Description

(No Model.)
F. CARSON 8v W. GLENN. GAME COUNTER Patented Nov. 2, 1897.
a W/TNESSIFS UNTTED STATES PATENT Trier,
FRANK CARSON AND WILLIAM GLENN, OF HOULTON, MAINE.
GAME-COUNTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters IPatent No. 592,927, dated November 2, 1897.
Application filed April 2 3 1 8 9 7.
similar devices; and the object thereof is to provide an improved device of this class which 1s simple in construction and operation and which may be secured to a table or other support The invention is fully disclosed in the fol-.
lowing specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of our improved game-counter, and Fig. 2 a central transverse section thereof.
In the drawings forming part of this specification the separate parts of our improvement are designated by the same numerals of reference in each of the views, and in the practice of our invention we provide a gamecounter which comprises a circular plate 5, which is preferably provided at its opposite sides with arms or projections 6, in which are formed openings 7, by means of which the device may be secured to a table or other support.
The disk or plate 5 is provided concentrically of its upper surface with an upwardlydirected head 8, which is triangular in form or sharpened at its upper edge and which is provided with a plurality of notches or recesses 9, any desired number of which may be employed. Around the circular bead 8 is a circular space 10, which is divided by radial lines 11 into a plurality of spaces, in each of which is placed one of the numerals from 1 to 20, inclusive, but these spaces and numerals may also be of any desired number, the only object in this connection being to so form the device that the space in which the numerals are placed will be equal to the notches or recesses 9 in the bead 8 and will be arranged in radial line therewith. The disk or plate 5 is also provided centrally with an upwardly-directed lug or projection 13, to
Serial No. 683,448. (No model) counting the points of the game and may be used for counting the games themselves, and for this purpose the pointer is set atthe zeropoint indicated at 16, and each point of the game or each game is counted by turning the pointer to the right. The pointer is provided on the under side thereof with a tooth or projection 16*, which is adapted to engage with the notches or recesses 9 in the bead 8, and said pointer is composed of spring metal, and the tooth or projection 16 is adapted to hold the same in the desired position and to prevent the accidental movement thereof.
This device is simple in construction and operation and comparatively inexpensive, and it will be apparent that changes in and modifications of the construction herein described may be made without departing from the spirit of ourinvention or sacrificing its advantages.
Having fully described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. In a game-counter of the character described, an annular bead stamped in the baseplate and projecting upwardly, a boss stamped in said base at the central point thereof, a pointer pivotally mounted upon said boss, said bead being provided on the upper surface thereof with a plurality of notches or recesses, and said pointer being provided with a depending arm adapted to engage successively said notches or recesses, substantially as and for the purpose described.
2. The herein-described game-counter comprising a circular plate 5 provided with arms or projections 6 which are perforated, said plate being also provided concentrically of its upper surface with an upwardly-directed bead. 8 which is triangular in form in crosssection and provided with a plurality of notches or recesses 9, a circular space 10 adj acent to said bead and divided by radial lines 11 into a plurality of spaces each of Whieh is designated by a numeral, the notches in said bead being at a central point of the said spaces, said plate 5 being also provided with a lug or projection 13, a pointer let pivotally mounted thereon and provided with a knob or handle 15 and with a tooth or pro jeetion 16, substantially as and for the purpose described.
In testimony that We claim the foregoing 10 as our invention W0 have signed our names, in presenee of the subscribing Witnesses, this 17th day of April, 1807.
