NO. 592,703. Patented-Oct. 26,1897.
FIGJ.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE. D
GORHAM GRAY, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO JOSEPH M. DOVVNEY AND WILLIAM J'. DOWNEY, OF HYDE PARK, MAS- SACHUSETTS.
ELI-:cil-Rlc:v CONDUCTOR.
SPEGIFIOATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 592,903, dated october 26, 18er'. Application nea December 4,1896. sel-n1 No. 614,455. (No man.)
To all whom it may concern.: i
Be it known that I, GORHAM' GRAY, of Bos# ton, in the county of Suolkand State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Conductors, of Whichlthe following is a full', clear, and exact description.
This invention will be lfully described hereinafter and embodied in the claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part ofv this specification, in which similar characters of reference indiparts inl all the figures. Figure -1 is a longitudinalV elevation of the conductor with part in section. Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the same on the line 2 2 Yof Fig. 1,`and,Fig. 3 is a similar view of the same on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
The conductor is made of a piece of 'metal formedwith'a series of longitudinal grooves A and a series of transversely-extending grooves B, thus leaving a cOreC, of hard metal,
andprojcctions D, of softer metal, thegsaid Having thus fully described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A conductor having a continuous core and an outer portion divided by longitudinally and annularly extending grooves, the core.
being of material harder than that Of the outer portion, substantially as described.
