UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE F. BARRETT, OF WVlLKES-BARRE, PENNSYLVANIA.
NON-REFILLABLE BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 591,724, dated October 12, 1897.
Application filed December 19, 1896. Serial No. 616,261. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE F. BARRETT, a citizen of the United States, residing at \Vilkes-Barr, in the county of 'Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has relation to improvementsin non-refillable bottles; and the object is to provide a bottle of this class that will indicate that access has been had to the bottle after it has been originally filled; and to this end the novelty consists in the construction,
and communicating with the mouth 3 bymeans of the lateral curved channels 4 4.
The bottle is filledin the usual manner and the cork or stopple 6 inserted so that its lower edge extends below the channels 4 4. After the cork is inserted, as above described, the orifices 2 2 are filled through their tops with an innocuous liquid, the cork preventing said liquid from running out. The tops of the orifices 2 2 are then sealed with melted glass and the operation is complete. when the cork is drawn, the liquid in the orifices 2 2 runs through the channels 4 4 into the bottle,
and the fact that the cork has been drawn ischanges or modifications may be made as clearly fall within the scope of my invention without departing from the spirit thereof.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, 1s- A non-refillable bottle, comprising the cylindrical neck 1, having its mouth terminating in a horizontal plane flange and the walls of the neck formed with vertical parallel orifices 2 2, the lower ends 4 4, of which come inwardly and communicate with the passage in the neck, in combination with the removable cork 6, adapted to close the lower ends 4 4 of said vertical parallel orifices 2 2, the upper ends of which are then sealed with melted glass, substantially as shown and described. In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
I GEORGE F. BARRETT. Witnesses:
FRANK W. LARNED, O. H. DILLEY.
