W S. DRESBAGK.
BOTTLE.
,086. Patented Nov. 2, 1897 UNITED STATES PATENT Orrron.
XVILLIAM S. DRESBAOK, OF COLUMBUS, OHIO.
BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 593,085, dated November 2, 1897. Application filed June 17, 1896. Renewed April 17, 1897. Serial No. 632,666. (No model.)
To ctll'whom, it may concern: 1
Be it known that I, WILLIAM S. DRESBACK, of Columbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inv Bottles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to whichit pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in bottles; and the object of the same is to provide a bottle of improved form which cannot be readily used a second time. The bottle being of this form is especially adapted for preventing counterfeiting of medicines, liquors, &c.
The invention consists in the novel features of construction hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated by the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of my improved bottle. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the same when being filled.
A designates the body of the bottle, having the internally-depending neck B while raised from the top of the bottle is the neck 0, permanently closed at its upper end, as indicated at D.
E designates a flange or shoulder upon neck C, and at this point the portion D is adapted to be broken ofi for removingthe contents of the bottle.
The internal neck B is of greater diameter than neck C and is used in filling the bottle. This neck B may extend into the bottle as far as desired. Before the bottle is filled I prefer to cork the lower portion of neck 0, so that when seal D is broken ofi no particles of glass can drop down into the bottle. The stopper F may be inserted by means of a hook or bent wire extended downward through neck B.
lVhen the bottle is being filled, I insert the bent tube Gthrough neck B, its bent end extending into the top of the bottle, and by this means the airis permitted to escape after the bottle has been filled above the level of the lower end of neckB. After the filling the neck B is corked and sealed in any desired manner, and hence the contents of the bottle can only be reached by breaking off seal D and removing the stopper Fin neck 0.
If by any chance the fillin g-opening through neck 13 should be broken into, it will be quite impossible to pour all of the contents of the bottle therethrough, especially if the said neck depends well toward the bottom of the bottle.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. An improved bottle comprising a body portion, a filling-neck depending into the bot tle-bodyfrom its top end, a closed emptyingneck raised from the same end of the bottle body at a point adjacent the filling-neck, and a seal or stopper for the filling-neck, substantially as shown and described.
2. An improved bottle comprising a body portion, a filling-neck depending into the body of the bottle, a closed emptying-neck provided with a fragile seal, said neck being raised from the top of the bottle-body at a point adjacent the filling-neck and of less diameter than the filling-neck, and the stopper adapted to be inserted through the fillingneck and brought to position in the inner end of the emptying-neck, for the purpose substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
XVILLIAM S. DRESBAOK. Vitnesses SAML. L. BLACK, OHARLEs I. Sroorrnn.
