SPOOL-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters PatentNo.rl91,178, dated October 5, 1897.
Application filed February l0, 189 7. Serial No. 622,867. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLAUDE E. PEOK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Diamond,
in the county of Parke and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Thread-Holders; and I do declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to a thread-holder, and more particularly to that class of inventions intended to be attached to the garment of the seamstress and hold for ready use a spool or spools containing different-colored threads.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which shall be simple of construction, durable in use, and comparatively inexpensive of production, and which Inay be easily attached to or removed from the garment of the user.
With this object in view the invention consists of certain features of construction and combination of parts, which will b e hereinafter fully described and claimed. v
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view showing the holder attached to a fragment of a garment, and Fig. 2 is a rear view.
I denotes the supporting-plate, which may be suitably inscribed or ornament-ed, and to the back of which is secured, one above the other, two spring-pins 2 and 3 of usual and well-known construction.
4 denotes the spool-hanger, which is made 7, one of which is formed with a-hook 8 and the other of which is formed with a springeye 9 andthen extends laterally at l0 parallel with they rod 5 and has its free end engaged with lthe hook 8. portion l0 of the hanger any desired number of spools may be placed, and they will always be within convenient reach.`
If desired, I may make the device on an enlarged scale and adapted to hold a ball of yarn.
Having thus fully described Iny invention,
what I claim as new and useful, and desire toV secure by Letters Patent of the United States, 1s
A spool-holder consisting of a plate having a safety-pin permanently attached near the upper edge of the Vreverse side thereof for connecting the plate to the clothing of the wearer, and a separate supporting device secured below the safety-pin on the same side of the plate, said supporting device comprising a piece of wire doubled upon itself 'to form parallel members, one of said members being attached to the plate and the other member forming a detachable support for the spool-holder, a keeper on the attached member, and a spool-holder comprising a rectangular frame having eyes at its upper corners for connection to the support, and a bar for holding the spools detachably connected by a keeper or guard to one of the end bars of said holder, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afIiX my signature in presenceof two witnesses.
