SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 588,750, dated August 24, 1897.. Application filed December 9, 1896. Serial No. 615,035. (No model.)
' To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. KEPHART, a citizen of the United States, residing at Knoxville, in the county of Knox and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drawers-Supports; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the 'inven- .tion, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention consists in the novel features hereinafter described, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which illustrate one form in which I have contemplated embodying my invention, and it is fully disclosed in the following description and claim.
The object of my invention is to provide drawers-supports which can be detachably connected to any pair of suspenders and will still be movable independently of the suspenders in adapting themselves to the movements of the wearer.
In the drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my drawers-support attached to a pair of suspenders, and Fig. 2 is a similar view of the drawers-support alone.
My drawers-support consists of a pair of shoulder-straps A A, provided at their forward ends with adjusting devices. In this in stance each shoulder-strap is provided with a detachable piece a, secured to the strap A by a buckle a or equivalent device, so that the length of the entire shoulder-strap may be varied to suit individuals of different sizes. The lower ends of the forward portions of the straps do are provided with hooks a or other equivalent securing devices to engage the drawers in any desired manner.
.The rear portions of the shoulder-straps A are preferably merged at a into a single strap A, which is provided at its lower end with a securing device, in' this instance a hook at, for engaging or supporting the drawers at the back.
The shoulder-straps A A are each provided with a pair of transverse slots or elongated openings 0, a of sufficient width to permit the shoulder-straps of ordinary suspenders to be passed through the same, and to avoid making the straps A A of unnecessary width I prefer to make them wider only adjacent to said slots, as shown. The shoulder-straps B Bof a pair of ordinary suspenders are slipped through the rear slots c a from the outside and through the front slots a a from the in side, as shown in the drawings, Fig. 1. The two devices are then attached and can be handled as a single garment-support, while the two are capable of independent longitudinal movement.
What I claim, and desire ters Patent, isj A drawers-support comprising a single rear strap, and two shoulder straps connected thereto, each provided with an opening in the rear and front, in the body of the material, said support being provided with devices for to secure by Letengaging the drawers, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
