VIRGINIA B. PUTNAM, OF MOUNT MORRIS, NEW YORK.
STAMP-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 585,700, dated July 6, 1897. Application filed September 30, 1896. Serial No. 607,430. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, VIRGINIA B. PUTNAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Morris, in the county of Livingston and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stamp- Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a novel construction in a stamp holder and moistener; and it consists in the features of construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a central vertical section of the stamp holder and moistener constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is aside 1 elevation.
Referring now to said drawings, 1 indicates a bottle or receptacle provided with the tube 3, extending inwardly into the same from the upper end thereof in the manner shown. A cap 2 is screw-threaded onto the upper end of the bottle and also a flange 4, rising upwardly therefrom and concentric therewith. This flange 4 is externally screwthreaded to receive the internally screwthreaded cover 5, as shown.
In the upper end of the tube 3 is a brush 6, whose rear end is made in such a manner that it can receive its moisture from the tube. It will be seen that should an excess of water enter the brush 6 and be squeezed out of the same it will be collected by the receivingrim 4, so that it cannot be absorbed by the brush. The lower portion of the bottle 1 is exteriorly screw-threaded to enter the screwthreaded box 7 ,in which stamps can be placed, as shown.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a device of the kind specified, a bottle having a screw-threaded lower and upper end portion, a central tube 3 extending into the bottle from the upper end thereof, a screw-threaded cap secured to the upper end of the bottle and provided with an uprising externally screw-threaded flange, a screwthreaded cover fitting upon said screw-threaded flange, a brush secured in the outer end portion of said tube, and a box 7 having a screw threaded receptacle to receive the lower end portion of said bottle.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
VIRGINIA B. PUTNAM.
