THOMAS PAUL MAUTZ, OF STEWARDSON, ILLINOIS.
PAPER-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming-part of Letters Patent No. 581,237, dated April 20, 1897.
Application filed August 20, 1896.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS PAUL MAUTZ, of Stewardson, in the county of Shelby and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Paper-Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of this invention is to provide a superior receptacle for paper in sheets of different lengths; and the invention consists in a box or body portion provided with removable partitions, the lower ends of which are bent upwardly to form pockets, which serve hold the partitions in place.
The invention will be fully described hereinafter and defined in the appended claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the views.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of one of the partitions of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a sec tion of the invention.
The box or body portion A is provided with a downwardly and forwardly inclined edge a. Located within the box or body portion A are the vertically-extending partitions 16, the partitions being of different lengths, so that their upper edges will run in inclined lines parallel with the inclined edge a. The
lower edge of each partition 16 is bent forwardly and upwardly to form pockets 17.
Serial No. 603,409. (No model.)
These pockets or bent portions are adapted to engage with the contiguous partitions, so that the lines of the pockets lying on the bottom of the box or body portion A will furnish a rigid connection between all of the partitions and hold them in the positions shown in Fig. 2. It will be readily understood that the partitions may be moved from this position by lifting them out of the box.
Any one of the partitions 16 may be withdrawn, charged with material, and then replaced.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A paper-rack having a box with closed bottom and sides and with an open top, the upper edge of the box being inclined with ref erence' to the perpendicular, and a series of partitions snugly held within the box and of graduated lengths, the partitions being parallel with each other and each partition havin g its lower edge bent forwardly and upwardly to form a receptacle or pocket, the upwardly-bent portions respectively bearing against the contiguous partitions whereby to firmly hold the partitions within the box, substantially as described.
THOMAS PAUL MAUTZ.
