  • the object of my invention is a device for securing the partitions of cases and cabinets; and it consists of a metal clasp having four arms of the shape, or substantially so, of a dovetail, with either angular or rounded ends. These arms are to be placed, respectively, in the four angles formed by the meeting'of two partitions, and the broad ends are to be forced into the angles formed by the partitions, so as to prevent any Working up or other upward motion of the fasteners or clasps:

MEANS FOR SECURING PARTITIONS OF CABINETS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 578,728, dated March 16, 1897.
Application filed August 8, 1896.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES C. DOTEN, of Plymouth, in the county of Plymouth and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Means for Securing the Partitions of Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is a device for securing the partitions of cases and cabinets; and it consists of a metal clasp having four arms of the shape, or substantially so, of a dovetail, with either angular or rounded ends. These arms are to be placed, respectively, in the four angles formed by the meeting'of two partitions, and the broad ends are to be forced into the angles formed by the partitions, so as to prevent any Working up or other upward motion of the fasteners or clasps:
I have shown in the drawings, in Figure 1, a plan view of my clasp after it has been struck out and before the arms are brought down to their proper position, and in Fig. 2 a perspective view of a portion of the cabinet with my invention attached.

against the partitions, so as to force the broad dovetailed ends firmly into the angles. By this means it will be seen that the arms act as wedges and resist all force from above, and that the clasps can only be removed by previously and separately prying out each arm.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination with the partitions of a cabinet, of Clasps engaging with the intersecting angles of the partitions, and composed of a central portion, provided with four arms, the
ends of which are made broader than the other parts thereof, to be placed respectively in theangles formed by the partitions, substantially as and for the purpose above described.
