TROUSERS-CREASER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 575,401, dated January 19, 1897.

Be it known that we, LEO LOEBENBERG and DANIEL H. MORRIS, citizens of the United States, and residents of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trousers-Oreasers,of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

Our invention has relation to a device for pressing or creasing the legs of trousers, and the object thereof is to provide a simple and effective device of this character; and with this and other objects in view the device consists in the novel construction, arrangement, and combination of parts hereinafter more fully described in the specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure 1 is a side view of our improved trousers-creaser. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same, and Fig. 3 is an end view of the device.

Similar letters of reference designate like parts throughout the several views.

In carrying our invention into practice we provide two bars A and A, which are curved near the middle thereof and are provided at said curved portions with a flattened portion ct,having a central opening through which a screw or pivot 0 passes connecting said bars in the manner of shears, and upon the outer ends of said bars are secured cylindrical handles B and B, of wood or suitable material which is a non-conductor of heat. lhe opposite end of bar A is extended transversely to form yoke a, the ends of the yoke being bent inwardly at a, and mounted within said bent ends is a cylindrical roller D, of metal or suitable material, said roller being provided with central apertures in the end thereof adapted to receive the inwardly-directed extremities a of the transverse or yoke portion a, whereby said roller is revolubly mounted therein.

The bar A is provided with a lateral yoke-' shaped portion a the extremities of the yoke being bent inwardly, and within said portion is revolubly mounted a short cylinder D, provided with central openings in the ends thereof adapted to receive the inwardly-directed extremities a of the yoke-shaped portion of the handle A.

By forcing the cylindrical handles B B together the short roller D is forced upon. the long roller D, the pressure being regulated by the force exerted upon the handles.

The operation of the device is as follows, and will be readily understood: The cylinders D and D are adapted to be heated, and the legs of the trousers are placed upon the long roller, and the outer edge of the short roller is placed just beyond the front edge of the trousers, and by forcing the handles together the required amount of pressure is applied to the rollers, and the same may be moved backward and forward, as desired, and the crease formed is only upon the front of the trousers, owing to the fact that the short roller extends only partly across the leg of the trousers.

Various changes in the construction, ar-

rangement, and combination of the several parts of this device may be made without de parting from the spirit and scope of the invention.

Having fully described this invention,what

- we claim, and desire to secure by Letters lPatent, is-

1. A trousers-creaser consisting of two bars or rods crossed and pivoted together at about their centers, each provided with a handle on one end and with a smooth cylindrical roller on the other end, one of said rollers being longer than the other and both being devoid of gearing attachments, substantially as herein shown and described.

2. A trousers-creaser, consisting of two pivoted bars having curved central portions, one end of said bars being provided with cylindrical handles of non-conducting material, the outer end of each of said bars being provided with a yoke portion in which is revolubly mounted a cylindrical roller, one of which is shorter than the other, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
