WATCH-POCKET GUARD.

My invention relates to improvements in watch-pocket guards, the object of the same being to provide a simple device for holding the watch securely in the pocket, preventing it from falling out when leaning over, and also preventing the pocket from being picked.

The invention consists of a pin formed with a loop at one end and wit-h arms extending back upon itself, each of said arms being pointed and adapted to be fixed to the two sides of the pocket, and a supplemental pin for preventing the forward end of themain pin from being raised.

In the drawings forming part of this speci iication, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my device applied, the outlines of the vest-pocket being shown in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing a modified form of the invention. Fig. 3 is a detail.

My safety device is made up of a wire pin 1 formed with a loop 2 at one end thereof, and with two arms 3 bent back upon the main part of the pin, which are adapted to be applied to the two sides of the vest-pocket. In connection with the above I also use a supplemental pin 4, which is inserted in the forward part of the pocket, preventing the loop 2 from rising.

When the device is applied as shown in the drawings, the watch is placed in the pocket, as shown, and the chain moved to the forward part thereof. When in this position, it is impossible for the watch to fall from the pocket or to be snatched therefrom without the wearer knowing it. At the same time the watch may be readily removed by the wearer by simply moving the chain to the rear end of the pocket and removing the watch at that point. p

In Fig. 2 a modified form of the invention is shown in which a supplemental bend or loop 7 is given to the wire 1 at a point intermediate between the two ends. This supple- ,mental bend serves the function of giving additional security in that it prevents a pickpocket from drawing the watch to the rear of the pocket for the purpose of-removing, as is done by the wearer.

Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The herein-described safety attachment orwatch-pocket guard, which consists of a double-pointed pin or strip of Wire, formed with a loop at one end through which the watch-chain projects, and with outwardly and backwardly extending arms, which are adapted to be inserted on both sides of the pocket to which device is applied, in combination with a supplemental pin for preventing an upward movement of the loop portion of said strip of wire,-sulostantially as and for the purpose described.

2. The herein-described safety attachment or watch-pocket guard, which consists of a double-pointed pin or strip of wire, formed with a loopat one end through which the watch-chain projects and with a supplemental loop at an intermediate point, and with outwardly and backwardly extending arms, which are adapted to be inserted on both sides of the pocket to which the device is applied,

substantially as and for the purpose described.
