COMBINED TONGS AND POKER.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 57,431, dated August 31, 1866.
- exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
The present invention relates to a novel construction and formation of apair offire or cinder tongs, whereby it can be not only used for the same purpose as the ordinary tongs, but as a poker or implement for raking a fire in a grate, stove, furnace, or other heating apparatus, and also for lifting the covers from the top of a stove, range, &c., as will be obvious from the following detail description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying plate of drawings, in which the figure represents a side view of the combined tongs, poker, and stove or range cover lifter.

Although I have described two articles-as, for instance, a poker and cover-lifteras combined with a pair of tongs, it is obvious that either may be dispensed with, whether the poker or coverlifter, and the other only combined with the tongs, the operation and use of both articles being independent of each other, and therefore I do not intend to limit myself to the three as combined together in' one and the same implement.
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A combined fire or cinder tongs, poker, and stove or range cover lifter, substantially as herein described.
2. A combined cinder or fire tongs and poker, substantially as described.
3. A combined cinder or fire tongs and StOXG or range cover lifter, substantially as described.
