COMBINED WAIST AND SKIRT PIN AND BELT SLIDE AND KEEPER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 574,084, dated December 29,1896.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, CHARLES DEITSCH and EDWARD J. DEITSCH, citizens of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Waist and Skirt Pin and Belt Slide and Keeper; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

Our invention relates to improvements in combined waist and skirt pins and belt slides and keepers; and the objects of ourimprovemen t-are to support ladies skirts, to prevent their waists from sliding or working upwardly upon their bodies, to securely hold the belt in place, preventing it from sliding too far upwardly or downwardly upon their bodies, thereby hiding the space so often exposed to view between the lower edge or binding of the waist and the upper edge or binding of the skirts, and to keep the belt securely in the proper place upon their bodies, thereby hiding from view also the waist and skirt pin connecting the lower edge of the waist and the upper binding or edge of the skirt. \Ve attain these objects by the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view of the combined waist and skirt pin and belt slide and keeper, both pin and slide cover opened or unclasped. Fig. 2 is a viewof the waist and skirt pin and the slide-cover opened or unclasped, seen from the rear side thereof, showing the hole and the slot in the end of the cover.

Similar letters refer to like parts throughout the several views.

The letter A represents the principal member of the waist and skirt pin, and B the partially free swinging or movable member thereof, and O the keeper on the end of the main or principal member of the waist and skirt pin, in which the free swinging or movable end of the member B may be securely held when desirable.

D represents the principal member of the belt slide and keeper,consisting of the straight bar, to the front face of which, about the center thereof, the member A of the waist and skirt pin, near its center, is securely fastened at right angles thereto.

E E represent two right-angled lugs or projections made a part of the member D upon the upper and lower end, respectively, and upon the rear face of the said member D. To the lug E the cover G of the belt slide or keeper is hinged and in the free end of the said cover G is provided a hole H. Leading from the perforation H outwardly to the free end of the cover is the slot K. Into the said hole or perforation H the lug or projection L upon the backwardly-projecting lug E on the upper end of the member D of the belt slide and keeper is inserted when the free end of the cover G is pressed against the outer end of the right-angled baokwardly-projectiug lug E on the member D. Y

The principal member A may be swiveled upon the front face of the member D; but we prefer that the said principal member A of the waist and skirt pin be rigidly secured to the front face of the principal member D of the belt slide and keeper.

The members A and B of the waist and skirt pin are preferably made of one piece of metal, as clearly shown upon the drawings. The hole or perforation H and the slot K, extending therefrom to the free end of the cover G, perform the important function of a spring-clasp, by which the free end of the said cover G is securely held, when desirable, to the end of the backwardly-projecting upper right-angled lug E upon the member D of the belt slide and keeper, thereby holding the belt securely in place. When the free end of the cover G is slightly drawn away from the end of the lug E on the member D of the slide and keeper and the lug L removed from the hole H, the belt may be readily taken off from the slide and keeper.

Having fully described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. In combined waist and skirt pins, and belt slides and keepers, consisting of the waist and skirt pin, of the belt slide and keeper, the said pin swiveled at right angles to the principal member of the said slide and keeper, about the center thereof, and the said principal member, provided with rightangled backwardly-projecting lugs, substan- V tially as herein shown and described.

2. In combined waist and skirt pins, comprising the Waist and skirt pin, the belt slide and keeper the said pin swiveled at right angles to the front face of the principal member of the belt slide and keeper, about the center thereof, the said principal member having right angles, rearwardly-projecting lugs made integral therewith, and the hinged cover secured to one of said lugs substantially as herein shown and described.

3. In combined waist and skirt pins, the combination of the waist and skirt pin, the belt slide and keeper, said pin secured at right angles to the front face of the principal member of the belt slide and keeper, about the center thereof, the backWardly-projecting lugs, upon the said principal member, the cover, hinged to the lower lug, the said coverprovided upon its end with the hole, H, and open slot, the said upper backwardlyprojecting lug, having a central lug, L, whereby the free end of the cover may be securely fastened to the principal member of the belt slide and keeper substantially as herein shown and described.
