Be it known that I, FRANK A. WAGNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented'certain new and useful and pins and in supporting the awning on.

the sheave-block hooks instead of by said links suspended from the carrier-posts, all as hereinafter more fully set forth and especially claimed.

The object of my improvement is to provide inexpensive,strong, and durable fixtures for anawning, whereby the latter may be laterally adjusted in relation to the former, which very materially facilitates the operation of putting up said awning.

My fixtures enable an awning to be put up and taken down with the minimum amount of labor and trouble, said fixtures being left in place at all times. Once properly nailed or screwed to the window-frame it is not necessary to remove the fixtures for any purpose as long as it is desired to hang awnings in their locality.

That my invention may be seen and fully understood by others reference will be had to the following specification and annexed drawings, forming a part thereof, in which Figure 1 is a fr'ont'view of a single-hook fixture with a sheave-block depending therefrom, showing the method of attaching a rod thereto; Fig. 2, a side view of the same; Fig. 3, a front view of a double-hook fixture; and Fig. 4, a reduced front View of two of the fixtures secured to the top of a window-frame and having an awning attached thereto,- the upper part only of said awning being shown.

Similar letters and figures of reference designate like parts in the drawings and specification.

The fixture a consists of the plate 1, the post 2, projecting from the front of said plate,

and the depending hook 3, all preferably of iron and integral with each other. The plate 1 has the holes 4 4 therein to receive thenails or screws by which said plate is fastened to the top 5 of a window casing or frame. The post 2 is screw-threaded for the greater part of its length. The nut 6 is threaded to the end of the post 2, and has the integral washer or flange 7 at the back.

The fixture b differs from the fixture a only in the number of depending hooks 3, said fixture I) having two such hooks. A sheaveblock 8 is suspended from each hook 3 on the fixtures a and b by the eyebolt 9, and said block is provided with the sheave 10. A cord (not shown) for raising and lowering the awning is reeved through each sheave-block 8. The awning-covering 11 is attached to the rod 12, and said rod is placed against the plates 1 of the fixtures a and 1), between the posts 2 and the hooks 3. When the rod 12 is properly adjusted on the hooks 3, the nuts 6 are screwed over the ends of the posts 2 against the front of said rod, which is thus securely held in place. Further lateral adj ustment of the rod 12 in relation to the fixtures a and b may be had after the awning is in place, if necessary, by simply loosening the nuts 6, moving said rod in the direction desired, and again tightening said nuts. To remove the covering 11 and the rod 12 from the fixtures a and b, loosen or take off the nuts 6 without otherwise disturbing said fixtures.

The substitution of the nuts 6 for links not only simplifies my awning covered by the Letters Patent hereinbefore referred to and reduces the number of parts, but does away with the necessity of making holes in the fabric of which the awning-covering 11 is composed and obviates the liability of tearing the same.

The nut 6 and washer 7 may be separate and distinct members without departing from the nature of my invention; but I prefer to make them in one piece for the sake of convenience.

\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The combination in an awning-fixture,

of a plate, a post projecting therefrom, one

or more hooks depending from said plate, and a flanged nut threaded to said post, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

2. The combination in an awning-fixture, of a plate, a post projecting therefrom, one or more hooks depending from said plate, an awning-rod carried by said hooks, and a nut threaded to said post and bearing on the front of said rod, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

3. The combination in an awning-fixture, of a plate, a post projecting therefrom, one

or more hooks depending from said plate, sheave-blocks suspended from and an awning-rod carried by said hooks, and a nut 15 threaded to said post and bearing on the front of said rod, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
