Description

(No Model.)
H. E. & P. A. OASTO. DOOR SEGURER.
No. 568,189. Patented Sept. 22, 1896.
arromsy.
HENRY E. OASTO AND FLETCHER A. CASTO, OF CASTO, WEST VIRGINIA.
DOOR-SECURER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 568,189, dated September 22, 1896. Application filed August 10,1896. serial No. 602,220. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, HENRY E. CASTO and FLETCHER A. OASTO, citizens of the United States, residing at Oasto, in the county of Roane and State of "West Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Door-Securers; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable oth- IO ers skilled in the art to which it appertains to after described.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view showing our invention applied; Fig. 2, a plan view of the base-plate, and Fig. 3 a detail view of the latch with its knob-slide.
In the drawings, A represents a metallic case, which is preferably molded into the desired shape and provided with the longitudinal slot a on the upper side. B is a baseplate secured by screws or otherwise to the 0 case A, and provided with an opening I), through which the latch D passes into the catch-hole c of the door-facing O. The base B has also an end turn-up b to enter the woodwork of the door, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, and isheld to the casing by the bolts or screws 12*. The latch D is made with the curved arm d, on which is moved back and forth the slide E, so as to move the latch up and down. The latch also has a fulcrumhole d, through which passes the fulcrum pin or rivet d while the slide E has a knob econnected therewith by a neck 6, which runs in the slot a of the casing. When the door has been closed, it is only necessary to move the knob c with the hand in one direction to throw the latch D into the catch-hole c, and in the opposite direction to remove it therefrom.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding of the invention, what we claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is-- A door-securer consisting of the case A pro- Vided with the longitudinal top slot a, the base-plate B having the latch-aperture b and turn-up l) at the end, the latch D having the curved arm 01 and the knob-slide E movable on said latch, the latch itself having its arm fulcrumed on a pin or cross-rivet in the case, all substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
