Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIGE.
WILLIAM A. MORSE, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
-IMPROVED POLISHING-BOX.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 56,781, dated J nly 31, 1866..
To all whom t may concern.'
Beit known that I, WILLIAM A. MORSE, of the city and county of Philadelphia, and `State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Polishing-B0X; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of' the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists of a polishing-box adapted to various uses-cleanin g knives, forks, spoons, tinware, door-plates, and for general use about a house or shop.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
In the accompanying drawing, A represents a cylinder made of tin, wood, or other suitable material, into the lower end or bottom of which is closely tteda polishing-pad, B, which may be made of cork, leather, wood, or both combined, or any suitable material for that purpose.
I do not entirely confine myself to this Way of attaching the polishing-pad. It may be attached to any other part of the box most convenient for different kinds of work.
D is a perforated cover'or lid made to fit I closely around the top of the cylinder A.
To use my invention it is only necessary to provide the cylinder A with suitable polishingpowder, by, removing the perforated lid D,
and, after replacing it, shake the box with lid downward over the object to be polished, and when a suitable amount of powder is deposited upon the object turn the lid upward and rub the object with the polishing-pad B.
llaving,` thus fully described 'the construction and operation of my invention, what I claim,
Witnesses GEORGE 000K, HENRY D. 000K.
