. UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
KATHIE LIEBREIOH, OF NET V YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR OF ONE-THIRD TO BARBARA SAUDER, OF SAME PLACE.
HAIR-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 566,779, dated September 1, 1896.
Application filed June 15, 1895. Serial No. 552,980, (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, KATHIE LIEBREICH, a subject of the King of Bavaria, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York, State of New York, have invented a certain new, useful, and valuable Improvement in Hair-Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invent-ion has relation to hair-holders; and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of its parts, as hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of one form. of the holder, the circular dotted lines representing hair and the straight dotted lines representing a pin. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of another form of the holder. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the form of the holder as shown in section in Fig. 2.
The holder consists of a ring 1, having the radiallyextending arms 2 2. Said arms may be made of a single wire formed in the shape of a star and secured at or near the inner points to the ring. The outer ends or points of the star are disconnected.
The holder may be flat or it may be slightly concaved. The extensions 2, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, are substantially semielliptical in their general transverse outline. The ring 1 is secured to the extensions at an intermediate point of the latter. Such a holder as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 will make the hair protrude from the head and make a small suit appear much larger than it is.
In operation the switch of hair is run through the ring 1, and then wound about the extensions to suit the taste of the wearer. A pin, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 1, may be inserted after the hair is arranged.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A hair-holder consisting of a ring forming an open center, extensions secured to said ring and protruding radially therefrom, the outer ends of said extensions being disconnected, as set forth.
2. A hair-holder consisting of radial extensions, each said extension being substantially semielliptical in its general transverse outline, a ring forming an open center and secured to the said extensions at an intermediate point, as set forth.
3. A hair-holder consisting of a ring forming an open center, a continuous wire formed in the general shape of a star and connected in the vicinity of its inner points to the ring, the outward protrusions of the star radiating from the ring and being disconnected.
In testimony whereof I hereunto fix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
KATHIE LIEBREIOH.
