Description

WASH-BENCH. No.185,778. Patented Dec. 26,1876.
l iNVENTOF?i lTNESSES Il!" l. f 1/1/ ATTORN EYS `UNITED STATES PATENT QEEICEa DANIEL B. POND, OF WOONSOOKET, RHODE ISLAND.
IMPROVEMENT IN WASH-BENCHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 185,778, dated December 26, 1876; application filed June 17, 1876.
To all whom zt may concern: l
Be it known that LDANIEL B. POND, of Woonsoclret, in the count r of Providence'and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Wash-Benches and I do hereby declare that the iollowingis a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference i being had to the annexed drawings, making a part ot' this specification, and to the letters and igures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a vertical section of my wash-.bench when in use. Fig. 2 is a'vertical section when folded. Fig. 3 is a bottom view when folded, and Fig. 4 a bottom view when open.
This in ventionhasrelation to wash-benches; and the nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a foldin g wash-bench, as will lbe hereinafter fully set forth.
In the annexed drawings, A A A represent three parallel bars, which are connected at suitable distances apart by cross-bars or rounds B. Upon one of these rounds, a suitable distance from each end, are pivoted two arms, C O, the lower ends of which are connected by a shouldered or tenoned round, D, passing through them, and extending a suitable distance beyond their outer sides. 'On the ends of the rounds D are secured the legs G G, the upper ends of which are connected by a round,
b, and near their lower ends they are also connected by a round, b.
When the wash-bench is to be used the upper round b ofthe legs is placed in notches a in the under edges ot' the bars A, and held there by a pivoted button, d, the legs being inclined outward toward the end ol' the bench, and held by the arms C O in proper position.
By this means the bench becomes suiiciently strong and tirm for the purposes for which it is intended. When it is not in use the arms C are folded outward, and the leg G inward, the round D being held by the other end of the button d, thus bringing the entire wash-bench into a very small compass, so that it can 'oe put away in a very small space.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the parallel connected bars A, having notches a in their under edges, the arms C, rounds D, legs G, with top rounds b, and buttons d, all constructed substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
Y DANIEL B. POND. Witnesses:
D. E. WrLoox, A. P. HoLLEY.
