DEVICE FOR LEVELING S E PARATORS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 564,544, dated July 21, 1896.

Be it known that I, ORANGE SWISHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at West Baltimore, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Devices for Leveling Separators; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon,which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to improvements in a device for leveling separators, the features of which will be fully hereinafter described and claimed.

The object of my invention is to elevate parts of separators, with a view to leveling the same, by means of blocks placed against the periphery of the ground-wheel and by tie-rods connecting the same and geared to move simultaneously, and thereby elevate the ground-wheels as is found necessary. The object is accomplished by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a plan of the device. Fig. 2 is a side view showing a jointed tie-rod.

provided on its right end with a left-handed thread and the lower one with a right-handed screw-thread.

O O are nuts with threads adapted to their respective tie-rods. Each is provided with a collar which bears against the block. They have engaging cogs and a square projection adapted for engagement with a wrench. When one is turned, the other moves simultaneously.

At Fig. 2 the tie-rod is shown of two parts B B looped together, and the tie-rods may be linked near their centers. The circular solid and dotted line D, Fig. 2, shows the position of the ground-wheel as held in the device.

Having fully described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

In a device for leveling separators, the combination of the sustaining-blocks, the parallel tie-rods held in orifices of said blocks, the nuts 0 0 provided with screw-threads to engage said rods and geared together by cogs to move simultaneously, substantially as described.
