IMPROVEMENT IN SAFETY-POCKETS.

rEhis invention consists in the arrangement of a spring-frame and sliding bolt, in combination with the mouth of a pocket, in such a manner that by compressing the spring-frame and pushing down the bolt the mouth of the pocket is securely locked, and by raising the bolt the Inouth of the pocket opens spontaneously, and that by these means a simple and cheap attachment is obtained, which forms a perfect safeguard against pickpockets.
A represents a pocket, in the mouth of which is secured a metal frame, B. This frame is composed of two elastic springs ot' sheet-steel or other suitable material, which are united in such a Vmanner that the same, When allowed to follow their inherent elasticity, spring open and give free access to the interior of the pocket.
From the inner strip ot' the frame B rises a plate, C, on which slides a bolt, D, which is guided by suitable staples a, secured in the plate C, and said bolt is made to move up or down by a handle, b, which extends through the plate C and through the cloth ot' the vest or other garment in which the frame B is secured.
When the bolt is pushed down its head can be Inade to enter a loop or staple, c, which is secured to the inner surface of the outer strip ot' thespringframe B, and by these means such frame can be closed and the mouth of the pocket A safely locked, so that no access can be had to the same until the bolt D lis raised.
By raising the bolt the spring-frame is permitted to open and free access can be had to the interior of the pocket. This frame can be readily attached to Watclrpockets in vests or to pockets of any other description. It is light and entirely concealed in the interior of the garment, and no part ofthe Whole attachment is visible except the handle of the boltr D, which 4is so small that it can hardly be noticed, and by locking the springj'trame the contents ofthe pocket are perfectly protected against pickpockets.

ters Patent, is-
lhe bolt D and springframe B, in combination with the month of a pocket, constructed and operating substantially as and for the purpose described.
