Be it known that I, JOHN S. OLSSON, a citi zen of the United States, residing at Moline, in the county of Rock Island and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Tables; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to ironing-tables of that class having an ironing-board supported upon a framework that is capable of adjustment in all its parts to. admit of the board being adjusted to the proper level or height, and which will fold into a compact formfor purposes of storing and convenience of handling.

The improvement aims to provide a strong, durable, and efficient support for the board, which will admit of the said board being easily and conveniently adjusted to any level,

and at all adjustments remain parallel to its normal position.

The improvement also consists of the novel features and combination of the parts, which hereinafter will be more fully described and claimed, and which are shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of an ironingtable embodying the invention set up for use. Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1, part of the table being broken away and showing the board elevated a little higher. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of the board, showing its support folded.

The letter A represents an ironing-board of any desired form, and is provided on its nether side, at one end, with lugs 11 and at its other end with a ratchet-plate J A leg-section a, of nearly the same length as the board,'is pivoted at one end to the lugs b, and has a brace h pivotally connected therewith a short distance from the opposite end. A stay 6 is pivotally attached to the brace h, and in service obtains a purchase upon the floor. The free end of the brace his adj ustably connected with the racthet-plate J. A supplemental short leg-section O is pivotally attached to the legsection a about midway of its length and comprises side bars, each of which has a groove d in its inner side, and notches ein the lower walls of the said groove. A second brace F is pivoted to the leg-section a close to its pivotal end, and has a cross-bar 2 at its free end which travels in the grooves d and engages with the notches e, by means of which the said brace F is held in the required position. This brace F is composed of two oppositelycurved bars f united at a middle point and connected at their ends by suitable cross-bars.

G indicate latch-bars which are pivoted to the board and have a series of teeth in one edgeto engage with pins g projecting laterally from the leg-section a. These latch-bars assist in supporting the ironing-board and give stability thereto and supplement the ac tion of the brace h and stay 1'.

IVhen the table is set up the brace h is engaged with the required tooth of the ratchetplate J and the stayz' with the floor, and the brace F has its free end engaged with the proper notch e. To vary the elevation or height of the table the braces F and h are adj usted in the manner well understood. When the device is reduced to a compact form the leg-section a is folded toward the table, and the parts F, O, h, and i are folded toward the leg-section a, as indicated in Fig. 3.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isv The ironing board A, provided at one end with lugs 19 and at the other with the ratchet plate J, and the leg section a, pivoted to the lugs at its upper end, and provided with the pins g; combined with the latch-bars G, pivoted to the board and engaging with the pins; the short leg section 0, comprising side bars pivoted at their upper ends to the leg section a, and each provided on its inner side with a groove, and notches; the brace F pivoted at its upper end to the leg section a, and having the cross bar at its lower end engaging the grooves and notches in the leg section 0; the brace h, pivoted at its lower end to the leg section a, and engaging with the ratchet plate at its upper end, and the stay '6, pivoted at its upper'end to the brace, substantially as shown.
