Application led Tune 21, 1895. Serial No. 553,544. i (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that L'AnoLPH GRNER, of Jersey City, Hudson county, New Jersey, have invented an Improved Album, of which the following is a specification.
This inventionv relates to an album having Wooden leaves constructed and connected in a novel manner.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of my improved album; Fig. 2, an end view partly in section of the same; Fig. 3, a section of one of the leaves on line 3 3, Fig. l; and Fig. 4, a similar section on line 4c 4, Fig. l, showing the construction of the leaf.
My improved album is composed of a number of leaves a, which are made of wood, and are thus strong and infiexible and effectively protect the pictures. Each leaf a consists of a front plate a', Fig. 4, a rear plate a2, and intervening parting-strips a3, which are glued to the plates o. a2. At the top a slot or opening 0.4, Fig. 1, is left between the partingstrips for the introduction of the pictures b,
which may thus be slid into their seats. This opening may be closed by a wooden plug a5 to confine the picture in position. The leaves a are at the rear edge glued to a common ilexible backing c, composed of rubber cloth or similar material. The covers el are not attached to this backing, but are hinged directly at d to the front and rearMleaves of the album. Thus the covers when opened will not subject the backing to any strain or tend to disconnect it from the leaves.
My album is strong, of handsome appearance, and permits the ready insertion, inspection, and removal of the pictures.
An album composed of rigid leaves,a coinmon ilexible backing connecting the rearedges of the leaves, a pair of covers, and hinges for connectingsaid covers directly to the front and rear leaves, substantially as specified. ADOLPH GRUNEB..
