UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT BORGZINNER, OF NEW ROCHELLE, NEW YORK.
DISPLAY-STAND.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT BoRGzINNER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at No. 68 Liberty avenue, in the city of New Rochelle, county of Westchester, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Display-Stand, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in display-stands in which boards covered with a fabric, with a ribbon attached, can be made to stand firmly in the shape of an inverted V, when the ribbon is fastened, and can be flattened out horizontally when the ribbon is unfastened; and the objects of my invention are: first, to provide a firm inverted V shaped stand along each side of which there can be inserted, in an upright position and with the heads uppermost, twelve or more articles of ewelry, silverware, tools or articles of similar nature, in such manner that the heads of those on the one side will project above said stand and will cross the heads of those on the other side, which latter similarly project above said stand; second, to provide a display-stand, through which such articles have been inserted as aforesaid, which can be iiattened out horizontally or made to stand iirmly in the shape of an inverted V, at will, without removing any of the articles which have been so inserted in it. I attain these objects by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which- Figure l is a perspective view of the device at it appears when viewed from one side; Eig. 2, a vertical section of the device as it appears when it is made to stand in the shape of an inverted V, when the ribbon is fastened; Eig. 3, a vertical view of the device as it appears when it is flattened out horizontally, when the ribbon is unfastened.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Two similar oblong shaped boards A and B of any hard material, approximately eighteen inches long and eight inches wide are provided. Along one of the long edges of the board A there is permanently fastened, by means of glue or other like substance, a strip of felt, or other soft material C approximately one inch in width, one quarter of one inch in thickness, and in length eX- actly as long as the width of board A.
Along the corresponding long edge of the board B there is similarly permanently fas- Speccation of Letters Patent.

tened another strip D similar in dimensions, material, and position to the strip C herein described. On the same side of the board A another strip E of the same or like material as the strip C is similarly permanently fastened, parallel with the strip C, and approximately one inch distant therefrom, and similar thereto in length and thickness, but about one half as wide.
On the upper side of the board B there is similarly permanently fastened another strip F similar in dimensions, material and position to the strip E above described.
An opening G is made through the board A, parallel with the long edge, midway between the short edges thereof, distant approximately one inch and one-half from its edge. Said opening is large enough to permit a ribbon H, or tape, or other like article to be drawn through it.
On the upper side of the board A, midway between the short edges thereof, and
enetrating the aforesaid strip C at about its middle, and clearing said strip C, there is permanently fastened a small hook J of metal or other hard material.
A ribbon II, in length approximately as long as the short endge of one of said boards is provided, one end which K is permanently fastened, by means of glue or other like substance, to the under side of the board B, midway between its short edges and approXimately in the center of said board B. The boards A and B are then placed side by side, their respective upper sides uppermost, and their respective inner, or uncovered, long edges contiguous, and are permanently covered with, or incased in, one continuous piece of velvet, or other fabric or material L. An opening is made in said cover corresponding in dimensions and posit-ion to the opening G in the board A above described.
Another board N similar in material to the board B, but thinner and slightly less in length and width than the board B, and through which board an opening O has been made parallel with its long edge, midway between its short edges, distant approximately one inch from its inner long edge, and large enough to permit the ribbon H to be drawn through it, is permanently fastened, by means of glue or other like substance, to the under side of the board B, {iat-side to flat-side. Prior to fastening the board N to the board B as just described,
the free, or unfastened, end of the ribbon H isidrawn through the aforesaid opening O in said board N.
Another board P similar in all respects to the board N above described, and having a similar opening Q, is in like manner, permanently fastened to the under side of the board A, flat-side to fiat-side. Prior there'- to, however, the said free end of the ribbon H is drawn through the opening Q in the board P and is drawn down between the board A and the board P, and is then drawn through the opening Grin the board A. A ring or eye R made of metal or other hard material is permanently attached to the free end of the ribbon H.
Prior to fastening the boards N and P to the boards B and A respectively, and prior to drawing the ribbon H through any of the openings aforesaid,.the boards N and P are permanently covered with, or incased in, one continuous piece of cloth or other fabric or material S, through which are made two openings corresponding respectively in di- Y mensions and position to the openings O and Q made in the boards N and P as above described.V Y
I claim: The combination of two sets of boards,
each set consisting of two boards fastened together, each setl having two strips of fabric fastened to it, one set bearinga hook, eachV of three of said boards having an opening through it, covered with fabric having corresponding openings, and a ribbon, oneend of which being fastened to one of said boards, therother end of which, having a
