SHOVBL PLOW.
No. 547,296. Patented Oct. 1, 1895.
Wiines ses. [Meg Z07? k, M 0042??? Ai, 4 QM V I Unites States PATENT fi ment SHOVEL PLQW,
SIECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 547,296, dated October 1, 1895.
Application filed June 2, 1894. Renewed August 13, 1895. Serial No. 559,145. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUST SoHoENFEL- DER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Brenham, in the county of Washington and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sweep- Stocks and Middle-Breakers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
The special object of thevinvention is to make the stock of a shovel-plow so that it will be strong, durable, and comparatively inexpensive.
The invention consists in the structural combination.
The drawing is a perspective view of my plow-stock.
In the drawing, A represents a beam in two equal longitudinal sections; B B, the draftplates; 0, a spacing-block, and F a heel-piece slotted at f f.
The beam A is curved at the rear to form the plow-standard, at whose lower end is a spacing-block, while the fastening-bolt for the plow passes between the beam-sections and is provided with a suitable nut.
II represents handles bolted at D through the block 0 and beam-sections, while they are braced by straps I I, which are held at the rear to the handles by bolts and nuts which hold the angled spacer J. The straps I are also held to the beam by the same bolt and nut as the heel-piece F, which is confined between the beam-sections. The heel-piece F being fastened to beam at two points by bolts and nuts, so that the bolts pass through the slots f f, the heel-piece may be adjusted to hold the plow-point at any pitch to suit the nature of theground which is being plowed.
What I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is
In a shovel plow, the beam A made in two equal longitudinal, rear-curved sections bolted together in front and rear in combination with the slotted adjustable heelpiece secured between the beam-sections, and the handles bolted to the curve of the beam, the said handles being provided with the braces 11 and spacer J as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
AUGUST SGHOENFELDER.
Witnesses:
WM. R. EWING, ALFRED J EFFRIES.
