Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.V 54,653, dated May 8, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE L. Wirsrr, of Philadelphia, in the county oi Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a Tool or Instrument for General Household Utility; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of' the same, reference being had to the accompanyin g drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
My invention relates to a combination in one instrument ot' a variety of devices of gen` eral utility, as hereinafter shown.
In order to enable others to understand the precise nature of my invention, I will proceed to describe it.
0n reference to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification, Figure lis a side view, and Fig. 2 is a top View.

In the management of every well-regulated household it has heretofore been found necessary to use a separate and distinct tool or instrument for each and every of the various operations incidental to it. This has caused not only a vast first outlay, but also considerable expense is afterward entailed and valu! able time lost by breakage and displacement ofthe same. I propose to obviate these objections by constructing a tool or instrument at a small cost which will be easily manipulated, combining gas-burner forceps and pipe-ton gs, nut-cracker, ice-pick, tack and nail hammer, tack and nail drawer, appliances for remove- ,ing plates from stoves or ovens, and for making beef or other meats tender.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
Combiningand arranging. in one tool or instrument an icepick, d, gas-burner forceps and pipetongs aud nut-cracker c, tack and nail extractor f, nail and tack hammer g, meatthrasher l1., and the plate-lifter le, substantially as and for the purpose herein specified and described.
