IMPROVED CHAiR AND WALKER FOR CHILDREN.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES HOL'rZ, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Chairs for Children; and I dd hereby declare and make known that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanyin g drawings, and the letters and fi gures marked thereon, which form part of this specification.

My said invention consists inrso constructing a chair for young children that, while it forms an appropriate and economical article for that use, and has suitably attached a re volving table, upon which the childs toys may be placed, it may, by a simple and ready adjustment, be converted into a useful device for supporting and assisting the child in its early efforts to walk, substantially as hereinafter set forth.

To enable others skilled in the art to understand how to construct and use my said invention, l will now proceed to describe the same with particularity, making reference in so doing to the aforesaid drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a side elevation of my invention; Fig. 2, a central vertical section ot' the same, taken at the line w in Fig. 3. A represents a circular frame, which is supported upon eight legs, (marked B,) so constructed asto form a broad base and prevent the chair from tipping over when in use. Within and upon said circular frame A is arranged the removable circular seat, (marked C,) which is sustained by the flange of said seat resting upon the shoulder in the circular frame, as shown.

D represents a suitable rest or support for the front legs of the chair, as represented in the drawings.

Around said circular frame are arranged a series of vertical rounds, (marked a,) whose upper ends are fixed in the upper frame, E, which constitutes the arm or rail of the chair.

F represents a removable segment, which is taken out when it is desired to place the child in the chair, and then replaced, to prevent the child from falling out, forming, together with the back or arm E, a complete circular frame, inclosing the child and coming just beneath its arms. The said removable segment F is secured in place by the passing of the pins d through the recesses therefor in the lugs f upon the ends thereof, as shown in Figs. 4t and 5, said lugs entering appropriate slots in the ends of the back and arm-support E for that purpose. To remove and replace said segment it is only necessary to remove and replace one ofthe said pins d.

In the circumference or edge of the said circular frame E F is a groove, and into said groove fits a corresponding tongue upon the inner circumference of the annular table, (marked G,) which is constructed in two parts, as shown, which upon being adjusted proper ly, as aforesaid, are clamped or secured together by means of the slides b, which are passed over the dovetailed projections c c upon the parts of the said annular table, as shown. This annular table moves or revolves freely around, so that a slight touch is sufficient to revolve the same, thus enabling the child to bring its toys around before it should thley happen to be upon any other part of the ta e.

By removing the seat C and allowing the child to stand in the opening thus formed, the annular frame A comes about the hips of the child, and the annular frame E F beneath its arms, thus supporting it in a standing position and allowing it to walk about, the chair moving easily upon its casters for that purpose.

Having described the construction and operation of my invention, I will now specify what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. In combination with a childs chair provided with the circular frame E F, constructed as described, the employment of an annular revolving table, G, substantially as and for the purposes specified.

2. The combination and arrangement of the circular arm-supports E F, the circular frame A, and removable seat G, substantially as and Volving annular table G, substantially in the manner and for the purposes shown and described.
