IMPROVED KNIFE AND FORK RACK.
Specilcation forming part of Letters Patent No. 54,541, dated May 8, 1866.
To all lwhom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J. B. HAWLEY, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Knife and Fork Rack 5 and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters ot' reference marked thereon,to be a full, clear, and exact description of the saine, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a perspective view.
My invention is more particularly designed for use upon the tables of eatinghouses, hotels, Sac., but is also adapted for private tables, its object being to form a rack upon which the knives and forks for the use of each individual may be placed, and combining therewith an individual salt77 and butter.77

In addition to the rack, salt, and butter it is many times convenient and desirable to attach a bell. To do this I place a bell upon one end of any known or convenient construction, as seen in drawing.
My apparatus may be constructed from any kind of metal and finished, leaving the natural surface, or it may be plated.
Having therefore thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
