SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 536,101, dated March 19, 1895.
Application filed January 2, 1894- Serial No. 1 (NO model) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRED A. BUNDLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit,
in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ladies, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the trunnions for the bail, further in the peculiar construction of the trunnion plate provided with sockets for the ends of the belt and bottom band, all as more fully hereinafter described.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of aladle embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the trunnion and trunnion plate, and Fig. 3 is an elevation of Fig. 2.
In the present state of the art trunnions for ladles of this kind are usually forged out of the belt, and the bottom band looped around the trunnion or secured to the belt.
My invention simplifies the construction, reduces the cost and results in a better and more permanent device.
A is the ladle; B, the bail thereof, having eyes 0 at its ends adapted to engage with the trunnions on the ladle.
D is a segmental plate, adapted to fit the side of the ladle, and having formed centrally thereof the trunnion E. This plate and trunnion maybe cast or forged as desired. At the ends and lower edge of the plate, and preferably integral therewith are the pockets or 5 sockets F and G, the sockets F receiving the ends of the belt (which in my construction is made in two halves) being riveted or otherwise secured in the sockets. The sockets G receive the ends of the bottom band H, likewise riv- 4o eted in position. The plate is riveted at its corners to the ladle. The eyes on the bail are now engaged with the trunnions, and the device is complete.
What I claim as my invention is 5 In a ladle, the combination with the ladle, of a bail therefor having eyes at its lower ends, plates adapted to fit the sides of the ladle having trunnions thereon, integral pockets at the side and bottom edges of the plates, the hoop having its ends fixedly seated in the side pockets, and the bottom band having its ends secured in the lower edge pockets, substantially as described.
