ITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LOWELL T. WEAVER, OF CINCINNATI, AND JOSEPH I-I. WEAVER, OF WILLIAMSBURG, OHIO.
DENTAL FLASK.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that .we, LOWELL T. WVEAVER and JosnrI-I I-I. WEAVER, citizens of the United States, residing, respectively, at Cincinnati and l/Villiamsburg, in the counties of Hamilton and Clermont and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dental Flasks, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention is an improved dental flask, the object of the invention being to' provide an improved flask of this character which comprises a bottom or body portion, a detachable cope or upper portion and a detachable cap or cover for the cope, the said parts being provided with coacting positioning spurs and recesses for causing the parts to properly register with one another, a further object of the invention being to provide the bottom or base portion of the flask with spring hooks which are pivotally connected thereto and are adapted to engage keeper grooves in the upper side of the cap to firmly and yet detachably secure the parts of the flask together.
lVith the above and other objects in view, our invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a side elevation of a dental flask constructed in accordance with our invention, showing the same in closed, fastened position. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal central sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view of the same.
Our improved dental flask comprises a base or body member 1 which has a bottom 2 and a wall 3. The cope or upper member 4 or our flask is formed by a wall which corresponds in shape with and is adapted to fit on the wall of the base or lower member, the cope being without top or bottom. The upper side of the cope is closed by a detachable cap 5 which corresponds in shape therewith and is adapted to fit thereon. In opposite sides of the wall of the base or lower members, in the outer side thereof are a pair of vertical recesses 6 the inner sides of which are vertical, the said recesses being triangular in cross section. The cope is pro- Vided at opposite sides with a pair of downwardly extending studs 7 which are adapted to fit in and correspond in size and shape Specification of Letters Patent.

with the recesses 6, the said recesses and studs serving to position the cope on and in exact register with the wall of the base or lower member. The cope is also provided in opposite sides, in its outer surface, with a pair of recesses 8 which are similar to the recesses 6 and which serve to fit and receive a pair of depending studs 9 with which the cap 5 is provided, said studs and recesses coacting to position the cap on and in exact registry with the upper side of the cope. The cap is provided in its upper side, atsuitable points, with keeper grooves 10.
The base or lower member of our improved flask is provided at suitable points with three pairs of outwardly projecting lugs or ears 11. Between each pair of cars is pivotally mounted the lower end of a spring book 12. The bills of the hooks are adapted to snap into the keeper grooves 10 when the hooks are turned upwardly, and serve to firmly secure the cap on the cope and also secure the cope on the lower or base member of the flask, and the bill of each hook is formed with an upwardly projecting finger piece 13 by means of which the hooks may be readily disengaged from the keeper grooves of the cap.
Our improved flask thus constructed comprises a detachable base member, cope and cap which may be readily assembled and-disassembled, which, when assembled automatically dispose themselves in correct registry, and, moreover, our improved flask provides means embodied by the spring hooks to firmly and yet detachably secure the parts of the flask together, the said hooks being adapted to be almost instantly applied or disengaged therefrom.
It will be understood that the parts of our improved flask may be readily assembled and fastened in a very short time, may be readily disassembled, and that owing to the shape of the studs and recesses, the parts adjust themselves and perfect registry is secured during vulcanization. In practice, the springs may be connected to the lugs on the base by means of cotter pins so that the springs can be taken off and replaced, if necessary.
"While we have herein shown and described a preferred form of our invention, we would have it understood that changes may be made in the form, proportion and construction of the several parts without departing from the spirit of our invention and within the scope of the appended claim.
WVe claim:
The herein described dental flask comprising a base member including a bottom and a wall, the wall being provided with wedge-shaped recesses, a cope or upper member comprising a wall arranged to fit detachably on the wall of the base member and provided with downwardly extending wedge-shaped studs to engage the recesses thereof, the said cope member being provided with wedge-shaped recesses, a cap forming a detachable cover for the cope member and provided with downwardly extending wedge-shaped studs to engage the recesses of the cope member, and spring hooks carried by and directly pivotally connected to the base member and provided at 20 their upper ends with spring bills to bear on the cap and coact with the said wedgeshaped studs and recesses to arrange the parts in registry and hold the same together,
the said cap being provided with keeper 25 LOWELL T. WEAVER. JOSEPH H. WEAVER.
