GLASS MOLD.
N0.-534,872. Patented Feb. 26, 1895.
' keepsie,
UNITED STATES PATENT Orricn.
ROBERT GOOD, JR, OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK.
GLASS-MOLD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 534,872, dated February 26, 1895.
' Application filed March 24,1894. Serial No. 504,900. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT G001), J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at Poughin the county of Dutchess and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glass-Molds; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to molds for glass articles, and more particularly to means for operating the same.
The object of the invention is to provide means whereby the blower may have complete control of the mold, to open and close it at will.
With this obj ectin view, the inventionoonsists in certain features of construction and in the combination of parts which will be hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings,Figure 1 is a perspective view of a side shutting mold with my improvement applied, showing the mold opened. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the mold closed.
In the drawings, A denotes the mold-plate, and B the side closing mold consisting of two parts hinged together, and pivoted by a rod B to the said plate. B denotes the handles for opening and closing the mold. These parts are well known in the art and a further description of them is not deemed necessary.
Secured to the mold-plate A is an upright or standard 0, to which is pivoted in any suitable mannera treadle D, having two outwardly curved arms d. To the front edge of the mold-plate are secured two bell-crank levers E, the laterally projecting members e of which are loosely connected to the arms d of the treadle by links F. The members 6 are 40 low the treadle and its connected parts to fall back to their normal position, leaving the mold free and unencumbered, to be opened by the mold boy appointed for that purpose. A weight H, however, may be connected with each member e, in order to make the resetting of the'parts certain.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
The combination with a mold, the parts of which open and close horizontally and are provided with arms, of a standard, a treadle pivoted thereto and provided with forwardly projecting arms, bell-crank levers one member of each of which is adapted to engage the arms of the mold sections, links loosely connecting said bell-crank levers with the arms of the treadle, and stops for limiting the movement of said bell-crank levers, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ROBERT GOOD, JR.
