Description
Q (NoModeL) A CONRAD WAGON BOLSTER STAKE.
No. 533,116. Patented Jan. 29, 1895.
NITED STATES ALEXIS CONRAD, OF NORTH LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN.
WAGON-BOLSTER STAKE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 533,116, dated January 29, 1895. Application filed July 12,1894. Serial No. 517,380. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that LALEXIS CONRAD, acitizen of the United States, residing at North La Orosse, in the county of La Crosse and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Wagon-Bolster Stake, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a new bolster stake in its entirety, from the fact that it is adjustable, and stronger and more durable than any new in use, to my knowledge. They are to be made of steel, the same quality as boiler plate steel, and they are to cover the end of the bolster and the place on bolsters where boxes and racks rest and wear mostly altogether.
My object is to overcome the wear on the bolsters, and provide an adjustable stake, and the strongest and cheapest possible to make. I attain these points by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which a perspective View is shown of the whole stake.
The sides 1. 1. and plate 2. on which the stake rests, covers the end of the bolster, obviates the necessity of mortising through the bolster and overcomes the great wear on bolsters from boxes, racks, 8:0. The uprightstandard 3. is the stake proper which is strengthened by the two braces 4. 4. extending upward at its outside corners as far as the first rib 5. the lower ends of said braces being a part of the plate 2. and diverging to the outer corners of said plate 2. The ribs 5. 5. running crosswise of the stake 3. are for the purpose of attaching stake rings for extra stakes. The slots in stake 3 are simply for the purpose of overcoming Weight.
The slots 6. 6. in sides 1. 1. are for the purpose of adjusting the whole stake in order to make fit wide or narrow boxes, or racks.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a wagon bolster stake, the combination of the standard 3 with the braces 4. 4. and the bed plate 2. the sides or flanges 1. 1. to fit against the sides of the bolster with the longitudinal slots 6. 6. in said sides or flanges, substantially as described and shown.
ALEXIS CONRAD.
In presence of THOS. MORRIS, WM. MoGLENNoN.
