Description

(No Model.) 0 RATHBUN.
CARBOY HOLDER.
No. 532,094 Patented Jan. 8, 1895.
UNrrnn STATES FFECQ JOHN O. RATHBUN, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
CARBOY-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters ?atent No. 532,094, dated January 8, 1895. Application filed October 31, 1894. Serial No. 527,513. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, JOHN O. RATHBUN, of Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Carboy- Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to .be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others n as hereinafter the claim.
skilled in the art to which it appertains to make'and use the same. 7
My invention relates to an improvement in carboy holders, the object of the invention being to produce simple and efficient means for holding a carboy and permitting the same to be tipped and to so construct said devices that they can be adapted for carboys of vanous SIZBS.
With this object in view theinvention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts set forth and pointed out in In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective View illustrating my improvements. Fig. 2 is an end elevation.
A represents a frame or horse, preferably A-shaped, on which to support a carboy by means of my improvements.
The devices attached to each side or end of the carboy B, being identical in construction, a detailed description of one set of such devices will sufiice for both.
My improvement comprises in-its structure,
disks 1, 1, which, when in use, are disposed at the ends of the carboy B, preferably somewhat above the center thereof. From each disk 1, an integral pintle 2 projects laterally, said pintles having bearings in the frame or horse A. To each disk 1, arms or rods 3 are pivotally connected and adapted toproject downwardly and laterally from said disk, being provided with spurred projections 4 at their lower ends adapted to project under and engage the bottom of the carboy atpoints in proximity to the corners thereof. From the arms or rods 3, arms 5 project and at their free ends are provided with spurred projec tions 6 adapted to engage the front and rear faces of the carboy in proximity to the corners thereof. From this construction and arrangement of parts it will be seen that the carboy will be supported by the arms 3, 5, at its corners and that said arms may be adapted to accommodate a carboy of any size. Pro
jecting upwardly from each side 1 is an integral arm or upright 7, of a length somewhat greater than'the distance between the disk and the top of the carboy. At the upper end the arm or upright? is provided witha later ally 'or inwardly projecting internally screwthreaded lug or boss 8, through which a Vertical screw 9 passes. At theupper end, said screw is provided with a wheel 10 by means of which to operate it, and at the lower end, a plate 11 is swiveled to said screw, said plate being provided on its under face with teeth or spurs 12 adapted to positively engage the upper face of the carboy. From this construction and arrangement of parts it will be seen that car-boys of different heights can be held by my improved devices, and that, in connection with the depending arms above described, the carboy will be held firmly clamped and can be readily tipped on the pintles 2 when it is desired to pourthe contents of the carboy therefrom.
My improvements are exceedingly simple in construction, can be manufactured at a small cost, can be easily and quickly applied to a carboy of any size, and are effectual, in every respect, in the performance of their functions.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination with a frame, and a carboy, of a pair of plates or disks each having a trunnion thereon adapted to bear in the frame, hanger rods nected with the plates or disks, said hanger rods or arms having inward projections at their lower ends adapted to engage beneath the bottom of the carboy, and branch arms sides of the carboy, and uprights connected with the plates or disks and having a clamp-' ing screw in their upper ends which engage the upper portion of the carboy whereby to lock the latter in place, substantially-as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
