To LZZ whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, WILLIAM S. HARRIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Niles, in the county of Trumbull and State of Ohio, have invented certain `new and useful Improvements in Eaves-Troughs; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to eaves troughs; and it consists in the novel construction of the end of the trough as hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings: Figure l is a front view of the end of the eaves trough. Fig. 2 is a longi- V tudinal section through the same.
The eaves trough is of any approved construction, and generally consists of a substantially semicylindrical body portion A provided with a scroll a. at the top of one side.
The end B of the trough is formed integral with the trough, and is formed by cutting away a portion of the scroll a, and puckering the end portion of the trough into a series of radial corrugations b. These corrugations are made by tools specially adapted for the purpose, and they radiate from about the center line of the trough drawn longitudinally and level with its top. The corrugations are preferably arranged to be in a vertical plane on the outside of the end of the trough, and
incline upwardly and inwardly on its inside as clearly shown in Fig. 2. The meeting poru tions of the corrugations b are rigidly secured 35 together bya mass of solder C, and when thus soldered together they make a very strong and stiff end to the trough. v
D is a cap soldered over the edges of the top corrugations. This cap gives the end of 4o the trough a more finished appearance and also helps to strengthen it. i
