Applioationfiled Aprillfi, 189d- Serial No. 507,816- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, THOMAS H. WILLIAMS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Lynn, in the county of Essex and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Toy Puzzles, of which the following is a specification. My invention relates to improvementsih devices of the above class and consists of a peripherally grooved wheel, having suitable handles to rotate the same, a ball adapted to run in the groove on the wheel and pockets at the periphery of the wheel for discharging the ball into and receiving it from the groove. The object of my invention is to'furnish a device of the above class that will test the view of device showing same as held by the operator.
Similar letters of reference refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawings A represents a wheel which may be made of wood, metal, or
any suitable material.
On the peripheral face of the wheel A is a groove B of suitable depth to act as a guide for the ball D as hereinafter set forth.
D represents a ball which may also be made of any suitable'material. Abullet or common toy marble of suitable size to run in a groove may be used.
The wheel A is provided with suitable handles 1-1. Hz-by means of which it may be the pockets P. P which communicate with the groove B.
The pockets P. P. may be formed in a lug 0 extending from the periphery of wheel A or they may be formed in the wheelitself substantially as-shown in Fig. 5. When formed upon lug G the pockets are on opposite sides of the lug. (See Fig. 4.) Thepockets P. P
preferably one is shallower than the other.
The game is played by placing the ball in the shallow pocket (the device being so held that the ball is retained therein) and then so rotating the wheel A by the handles H, that the ball is discharged into the groove B and after running along the same caught in the deeper pocket. I
.I claim as novel and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A toy puzzle consisting of a disk with a grooved peripherial face and suitable handles for rotating the same, one upon each side, projecting from the centers of its lateral faces,
are of suitable size to receive the ball D and a ball adapted to run in the groove, and pockets at the periphery of the disk for dischar ing the ball into the groove and receiving it from thesame, substantially as described.
2. A toy puzzle consisting of a disk with a grooved peripheral face and suitable handles for rotating the same, one upon each side, projecting from the centers of its lateral faces,
