Description

(No Model.)
J. BOUSE. OOMBINED TRUCK AND BAG HOLDER.
Patented Nov. 2-7, 1894.
'llflil v I fl m UNITED STATES PATENT @rrrcn.
JAMES BQUSE, OF OLINTONDALE, PENNSYLVANIA.
COMBINED TRUCK AND BAG-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 530,007, dated November 27, 1894. Application filed May 16, 1894. Serial No. 511,471. (No model) To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES BOUSE, of Olintondale, in the county of Clinton and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Truck and Bag-Holder; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in combined trucks and bag holders; and the object of the same is to provide a truck with a simple and efiectualdevice forholding open bags while being filled with grain, &c.
The invention consists in the novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts which will be fully described hereinafter and especially designated in the claim.
Referring to the accompanying drawings,- Figure l is a front elevation of my improved truck and bag holder, shown partly in section. Fig. '2 is a side elevation also partly in section. Fig. 3 is a detail view of the bag holder proper removed from-the truck.
The truck proper may be of any desired form or size but should be provided with the usual support A and bars B. Secured to these bars between their ends are the upwardly projecting loops 0 having rubber or textile lining D for frictionally engaging arms E which project downward through said loops and which carry at their upper ends the head board F which is formed of the two overlapping sections which are adjustable with relation to each other as shown so as to fit trucks of any width.
Bars B are formed with depressions G in which are arranged the pressure blocks H which are normally pushed forward into the loops 0 and against arms E so as to hold them in the desired vertical adjustment.
The loops 0 are provided on their outer sides with pockets I in which are confined the laterally pressing clamp blocks J which engage and hold said arms at the sides.
K are arms pivoted between their ends to head board F with their lower ends normally converging and connected by spiral springs L to said board as shown so as to exerta constant inward pull on said arms. From the upper ends of the arms project the forwardly and downwardly inclined bag holding jaws M which are serrated on their outer edges as shown to engage the textile material of the bags and prevent them from slipping while i being filled. It will be noted that the springs are so drawn upon the arms as to separate the-jaws and in this way the mouth of the bag is kept wide open.
' By means of the arrangement here shown it will be seen that the bag holder may be adjusted to the desired vertical position with relation to the support A so that either long or short bags may be handled with equal ease. The bags after being filled are conveniently carried by truck from the place of filling.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of a truck frame, loops secured thereto having laterally projecting pockets, depressions in the portions of the frame beneath the loops, spring pressed blocks in said depressions and in the said pockets, a bag holding device and arms E extended therefrom which are movable in the loops and which are held in the desired adjustment by said pressure blocks, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereofI affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
- JAMES BOUSE.
