ENOOH DIOKERMAN AND ERNEST L. DIOKERMAN, OF COBRA, MINNESOTA.
WASHING-MACHINE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 529,610, dated November 20, 1894. Application filed June 27, 1894. Serial No. 515,875- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, ENOCH DICKERMAN and ERNEST L. DIOKERMAN, of Oorra, in the county of Olmsted and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washing or Ohurning Machines; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exactdescription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification. 1
Our invention relates to improvements in rocking washing machines, and it relates to that class of machines which are provided with two rockers extending in reverse positions.
The object of our invention is to provide a rocking washing or churning machine having a body provided with two rockers at each side, the arc of their circles intersecting each other, and providing a base having two inclines at each side which extend in opposite directions and intersect at their centers, so that as the body of the machine is rocked first one of the rockers engages one of the inclines and then when movingin the opposite direction the other rocker engages the other incline, the normal position thus being at the center of the base when at rest.
In the accompanying drawingsz-Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal section of a machine which embodies our invention complete. Fig. 2 is a detached perspective view of the links which are pivoted at opposite ends to the rocker and the base'respectively. Fig.3 is an inverted plan View of the rocking body.
A indicates the body of either a washing or churning machine which is provided with the racks B at its inner side, which racks will be varied in construction according to whether shown. The base D is preferably formed of the pieces E placed in opposite incline position and intersecting at-their centers and connected by'the transverse bars F, and supported by means of the legs G. .At theinner side of one end of one pair of the rockers the links H are connected, the opposite ends of the links being pivoted to the opposite ends of the base as shown whereby the body is kept in the proper position upon the base at all times as it is rocked-back and forth.
Attention is directed to the fact that as the body is rocked to and fro one pair of rockers move up one incline thus givingthe body a peculiar movement, and when moved in the opposite direction the other pair of rockers turn on the other incline as will be clearly understood. From this it will be seen that the normal position of the body when at rest is at the center of the base and in an erect position. These links are connected at one end by a transverse bar I as shown in Fig. 2 and are provided at their opposite ends with a slot J for engaging their pivotal pin whereby the said links can be disconnected at will and the body removed from the baseas will be readily conceived.
We are aware that it is not novel to provide the'body of a washing or churning machine with rockers extending in reverse directions, but in these instances the reverse inclined tracks have not been provided, and which is our improvement. Owing to this construction we have a base for'the machine and the body is given a peculiar rocking motion not obtained in these other constructions.
Having thus fully described our invention, whatwe claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isy A washing machine comprising a base having oppositely inclined tracks lying in intersecting. planes, and a rocking body having rockers with the lines of their peripheries intersecting and resting and rocking upon said tracks, substantially as described.
In testimonywhereof we affix oursignatures in presence of two witnesses. I ENOOH DIOKERMAN.
