FRITZ SCI'IVVEITZER, .OF DUSSELDORF, GERMANY.
WALL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 528,239, dated October 30, 1894.Y
Application filed April 13I 1864. Serial No. 507,453. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRITZ ScHWEITzER, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Dusseldorf, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Walls, with description as follows.
This invention relates to an improved fastening for walls and partitions constructed from artiical stones and it consists in connecting the stones by a system of metal rods that extend bodily through thesame.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is an elevation, partly in section, of myimproved wall. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section on line 2,
.2, Fig. l; Fig. 3,adetail elevation of the metal keleton and Fig. 4 a plan of the'horizontal ar s.
The letters a, represent the artificial stones of a Wall or partition, composed of plaster of paris, cement or other suitable material. The stones a, are perforated bot-h horizontally and vertically by intersecting channels open from end to end. The vertical channels receive the upright tie rods b, which connect all the stones that lie vertically in line. The rods b, are made in short lengths (Fig. 3), connected at their ends by mortises and tenons b', so that the wall may be readily built up. If desired, the rods b, may be rigidly secured within one of the stones a, and project 3o with their ends into the adjoining stone.
The horizontal tie rods s, are secured within the horizontal channels during the manufacture of the stones. They are provided with eyes o, at their intersection with the vertical rods, so that the vertical rods are free to pass through the horizontal rods and form a complete skeleton frame.
My improved Wall fastening is entirely invisible, is exceedingly strong and permits the Wall tobe quickly built up.
A Wall composed of artificial stones which are perforated vertically and horizontally from end to end, a series of perforated horizontal tie rods received Within the horizontal channels, and a series of sectional vertical tie rods received within the vertical .channels and engaging the horizontal tie rods, substantially as specified. I
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
RoB. LIEBER, WILLIAM OTTo.
