SAMUEL GISSINGER, OF ALLEGHENY CITY, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND PETER KOLBEOKER, OF PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
BLACKING-BRUSH AND BOOT-JACK.
Speciiication forming part of Letters Patent No. 52,757, dated February 20, 1866.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL GIssINGER, of the city and county of Allegheny, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful article of manufacture-to Wit, a Blacking-Brush and Boot-Jack Combined; and I do hereby declare that the followingis a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in making a blacking-brush and boot-jack combined, said article being madein the manner and operatingl as hereinafter described.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l represents a side View of my improved blackin g-brush and boot-jack combined. Fig. 2 represents a top View ofthe same when opened out so as to form a boot-jack.

It will be observed that the legs e and e are so arranged with relation to each other that in folding the brush the legs Will pass each other, as seen in Fig. l-that is to say, the lower part of the leg c will till up the opening marked 2, and the lower part of the leg e will lill up the opening marked l, when the brush is folded up, as in Fig. l.
Having thus described the nature, construction, and operation of my improvement, what I claim as my invention is- The combination of a blacking-brush and a boot-jack, said blacking-brush and boot-jack being constructed, combined, and operating substantially as herein described and set forth.
