To all whom, it may concern:

Beit known that I, DAVID SANGUINETTE, of

the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements 1n Neckties, of which the following is a full, clear, andexact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,.

In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective rear view of the form to which the several parts of the tie are attached. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the covering for the form. Fig. 3 is a rear view of the form with covering and tail piece attached. Fig. 4 is a middle vertical longitudinal section along zrw of Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a section along yy of Fig. 4 with the covering removed; and Fig. 6 is a detail view of a portion of the neck band. i

The object of my invention is to construct a sectional neck-tie or one that can be built up by securing its several parts to a central or main form the outline of which will de-v termine the shape and character of the completed tie. The several parts appended to the form are readily detachable, can be readily washed and replaced, and otherwise removed so that the style of the tie can be varied at pleasure. In detail it may be described as follows:

Referring to thedr'awings, 1 represents the form. which when spread out and before being folded for the. reception of the various removable parts has the shape of the covering shown in Fig. 2. The form consists in the present instance of an upper flap 2, lower flap 3, lateral projections 4, 4, from the lower end of each of which extends a wing 5 and 6, the wing 5 being folded inwardly along its lower and upper longitudinal edges to receive the wing 6 which acts asa tongue in the groove thus formed by the folded edges of the wing 5. As seen from Fig. 1, the flap 3 is folded substantially parallel to the rear face of the form 1, being folded interiorly to the wings 5 and 6, and the flap 2 is folded exterior to the said wings and to the lateral folded por- Serial No. 509.071. To the rear wall of the face of the form 1 is secured a pin or peg or other suitable retaining device for the end of the loop 7 of the neck band 8, the band being adapted to pass around the'neck of the wearer and its free end passed through the opening 9 between the flap 2 and portion 4 as usual, and as indicated in Fig. 1.

As seen from Fig.2, the outer covering has flaps 10, 11, folding side portions 12, and wings l3 and 14 all adapted to cover the corresponding portions of the form 1 as seen best in Fig. 3, the edges of the covering being secured securely to the edges of the form 1 by suitable fastening devices or snap hooks 15 as best seen inFig. 3, the snap hooks embracing and firmly holding the edges of the covering and of the form simultaneously. The detachable tail piece 16 of th'e'tie is secured to the flap 3 by a corresponding snap hook 15 as seen in said Fig. 3. When the neck band is dispensed with and it is desirable to secure the neck tie directly to the collar button of the shirt, a suitableloop 17 is secured to the flap 2 as seen in Fig. 1, in which instance the flap 10 of the covering is suitably cut to pass over said l'oop. It is ovious that the wings 13 and 14 of the covering can be dispensed with, being cut 0E along the dotted lines indicated in Fig. 2, the flap 11 being sufficient to secure the lower portion of the covering to'the form 1, in which instance the wings 5 and 6 of the form are also dispensed with.

The form 1 is generally made of metal, light metal such as aluminium being preferable, although any suitable stilf material will answer the purpose of this invention. Where it is desirable to dispense with the covering shown in Fig. 2, the form 1 may be made of celluloid or equivalent material, in which instance it may be suita'blyornamented so as to conform to the pattern of'the tail piece 16.

It is to be understood that'I do not limit myself to the outline of the form shown in Fig. 1, but the form may be varied according to the style of tie to be worn.

The tie here described is truly sectional, one part being detachable from the form without affecting any other part The pattern can be easily changed since one portion is independent of every other and in fact the device presents advantages that are clearly apparent from the construction.

Having described my invention, what I claim is- In a sectional tie, a form having a body or face portion, upper and lower flaps for the Same, lateral folded portions, the upper flap folded parallel tothe face and exterior to the lateral portions, the lower flap folded parallel to the face but interior to the lateral portions,

wings on said lateral portions folded parallel to one another but exterior to the lower flap, the whole adapted to hold a suitable covering of corresponding shape, substantially as set,- forth.
